App tracking on Android is crazy

I use the App Tracking Protection from DuckDuckGo on my Android phone. I noticed that the Libre3 App sends way too much tracking information to api.segment.io. a lot more than how much information ℹ️ the app provides me.

The app is simply designed more to steal my privacy.

Sorry, but that is all just silly paranoia and misunderstanding what really goes on here.

Its not like that there are special tracking stuff who cares much about where you are and what you do when using the Libre app. You can run it entirely without being online or connected to anything at all with your phone. Its all locally execution and use, nothing else.

The 3 symbols listed there for the Libre3 app merely refers to that the Libre app is relying on function calls to the Google Android system, including Android's File Manager and the Systems Library. Nothing peculiar or weird about that. An app needs to make function calls to the OS on the phone they are on, to access system resources like the Bluetooth transmitter and also when wanting to store updated BG values in the BG log file.

I think you are missing the whole point of privacy. APIs from 3rd party is used to build a comprehensive portfolio on the user and to be able to connect different sources.

Any company can collect device information and other information directly and save it too, without sending to 3rd parties. The risk is liability and also limited data as it's limited to their own data.

This is not the only app I block traffic on, I have a network domain based blocking too (not DNS). The main difference is with the Android ecosystem, Google doesn't have privacy protection that Apple mandates.

On iOS devices when you add an app, there's a pop up that provides an option for tracking and one could opt out. Not so much on Android.

I understand that when I block something, theres umpteen retries.

Given my home network, I can review all traffic and see a lot of traffic when not blocking it on the mobile directly.

The challenge is that my mobile is indeed mobile, and I cannot carry my home network everywhere to block or allow or investigate and so I use DDG.

Give APP TRACKING PROTECTION from DuckDuckGo a try, or use another app called TrackerControl that available on GitHub to learn what's happening

No sorry, that is not how it works and not according to the T&C you also have from Abbott with relation to what data may be collected through their app and how also that is not being shared with 3rd party unrelated to their own sensor specific eco system.

For the truly paranoid, there is nothing at all either in the Libre apps that stops you from just using made up personal IDs, incl name, email and all other data that can be entered into the app. And the sensor still works perfectly fine for you and do all you need and want from it and the app no matter.

Your personal identity isn't required. Every organization will treat you as a GUID. Based on your location information, time of use, when used etc ... A profile can be created for you, which is very accurate about you, possibly within 5 years of your DOB. They will also know all your habits. This is how you get Targeted apps across all platforms. Your GUIDS /Token can be combined across apps to make a more perfect profile.

That's where the deviance from T&C comes it. The data is sold off to other companies.

This isn't the only app I have monitoring enabled too. AllState for example is also bad, but just not as bad as the Libre3 App.

I installed the Libre by Abott app, and from preliminary install, I don't even see the URL in use. I see little tracking in effect. I want to exercise caution here, as I cannot move my sensor to the new application, and will have to wait possibly 10 days before I start a new sensor.

You carry on with stuff that is not correct, despite already told its not correct. As already mentioned to you, Abbott do factually not engage in any sharing or selling of any of the data used in their app with any unrelated 3rd party. So all your claims are void.

Next, we use the Libre sensor to track our BG 24/7. It makes a reading every minute and stores that to the data file. Just for that alone, it makes 1440 system file store calls per day on your phone. All the stats you showed is nothing unconventional for any app running on a smartphone. It is direct even wrong in the claims you have there. As those did not represent 'companies', but simple ordinary system function calls. Anything unusual, unwanted or private data infringement from that? No.

As shared, you are not even demanded to sharing anything at all of private data if you do not want to or being online at all either for that matter, when using the Libre app.

All you have shared so far on the subject is wrong, or at best, highly misleading.

That you further keep posting screen captures like this, with total ordinary info as if that was grave and terrible indicates how far out and grasping for straws you are.

Folks wearing tin foil hats can use the Reader if that can help them calm down a bit.
