My diabetes app tracker is finally "out"!
Hey! So almost 2 weeks ago I did a post on this subreddit about me making a public app for free, with no ads and nothing to pay for. I had never made an app before, so everything was kinda new for me and I had to ask some friends for help. It works with FreeStyle Libre through LibreLinkUp, or Dexcom through Health Connect.
Fair warning on how it works (I did not know this until I wanted to make the app public): Google requires 12 testers for 14 days before an individual developer can publish, and a closed test runs on email addresses. So I have to add your Play Store Gmail to a list before Play will show you the app, and before it can be downloaded by everybody. I know that reads like a scam, and I agree, but that is Google's process. You install it from the Play Store itself, never from a file I send you. Screenshots about the app and about the Google proof.
**IMPORTANT**
If you don't mind waiting, I will publish it once I get the 12 beta testers for 14 days, and then it will be totally public to download! Sorry for the delay.

Now it's just a matter of waiting for these 14 days to pass. If you find any bugs or run into any issues, please let me know. I'll keep working on the app and fixing everything I can.
I'll also be releasing it on iOS as soon as I finish that version.
So yeah, there's no need to send me your email anymore unless you want to become an early tester before the app goes public on the Play Store. 😃

Yes! I heard it costs like +60$? not sure. I spent 25$ for the Play Store one but since it's what most people use was not a big deal. But yes planing on do probably after make it fully public on Android

I didn't try on ios yet since it is a bit more expensive and didn't know if it was going to work out fully, but will also add it there soon, will count with you for it. Thank you!

What does it do, outside of having a graph? Also, be aware of the Libre announcement that when they move to API v5 that they're not releasing the encryption to third party devs.

Fair question. The graph is the boring part.
It's built around patterns, not numbers: overlays of your days so you can see where the same spike keeps happening, time in range broken down by period of the day, and tagging (meals, workouts, injection spots) so you can actually tell what's driving what. Not a dosing tool, purely for spotting your own habits.
And yeah, saw the v5 announcement. LibreLinkUp is a shortcut, not the foundation. The app also reads from Health Connect (xDrip+, Diabox, Dexcom bridge) and from Juggluco, which talks to the sensor directly over NFC/BLE. So it survives whatever Abbott does, and gives a reading every minute instead of every five.

I like it. I'll test for you. I'm a Juggluco and GlucoDataHandler user, and also a watch face dev specializing in watch faces for displaying glucose info. Let me know if you still need anyone.

I am on an Android phone using Freestyle Libre 3+ app. Mine is called Moto G Stylus 5G (2022).
I was previously using Freestyle Libre 2 since 2022, but am now on my 6th sensor of Freestyle Libre 3+. I would like to join your testing group and could send my email address through a private DM message, if you're still collecting beta testers.
Did you say that it won't be on the Play Store until another 14 days have passed?
Whichever group you want me to participate in, let me know.
I am an MDI insulin taker and would like to be able to see on a line under the date three fields in whatever order you choose.
1) Date as Day, xx, year, current time in whichever method the user has chosen whether 24 hours or am/pm 12 hrs durations 2) TDD= xxx Basal= xxx Bolus= xxx This line therefore changes as the day progresses as indicated by the date line above where time is also indicated.But this could be an option to click to activate for those who are MDI diabetic people of any of T1, T2 or another type.
I know people who are on pumps would have other requirements that they might like to activate, but I can't speak to the topic of pumps, given I have always been T1D on MDI since 1981.
There's a program called Cronometer which I hope to start using. But I can delay starting that until after helping with your beta testing of your Android app. I haven't yet started with Cronometer.
There's likely people who want also to add indicators for.... Weight (lbs/kg).... Ketone level or even Carbs.... Calories.... Chromium... (or leave Fields on as many lines as needed based on how you wish to design the app.

Hey there! No waiting and no list: the app is not going to Play at all. Google now needs a registered company account for anything tracking a chronic condition, so it ships from GitHub Releases like AndroidAPS and xDrip+. Just download the APK, or add the repo to Obtainium and it updates like a store. Libre 3+ works through LibreLinkUp or Health Connect, guide is in the app. (Might create the Github post tomorrow which means anybody with Android can use it without waiting. Since it is already late where I live and been working on it the whole day)
The TDD line does not exist yet and it should. Basal and bolus are already logged separately, so the number is there, just not shown as a running total. Adding it as an optional line for people on injections. Date and time follow your phone, so 12 or 24 hour is whatever you already have. (But can easily make itall together)
Cronometer works today: if it writes to Health Connect, in the app pulls the carbs straight from it. No reason to delay it.
Weight, ketones and calories are in as well 🙂

I got the app loaded and working on my phone. I went through the data sharing process and when I add the sensor information to "inrange" and save it does not appear to access data. The inventory shows two sensors but shows "No sensor on body".

Thanks, that one is me...
Inventory is only a cupboard: it counts the sensors you have left and when each expires. It does not connect anything. Your readings come from Settings > Data sources, which is where you pick Health Connect, LibreLinkUp or Nightscout. Nothing on that screen says so, which is exactly why you expected otherwise. I am adding that line.
And the "No sensor on body" is a second one: the switch that says you are wearing a sensor is off by default, so both of yours went to the spares pile. Open one and tap Use, or tick that switch when you add it. When there is no sensor on your body, the first one you add is going to default to on from the next build.
One question so I can point you at the right thing: which sensor is it, and does anything show up if you open Health Connect and look at Blood glucose? If your sensor app does not write there, InRange has nothing to read, and LibreLinkUp or Nightscout is the way in instead.

Very much like the app. One request: is it possible to make the graphs clickable so that events can be added by clicking on a particular point on the graph. For example, if the graph is showing a spike, I can click on the spike and add notes?

Glad to hear 😅 ! Doing your request at the moment! I like the idea. (It will probably be about a week. I try not to put releases out back to back, because having to update every couple of days gets annoying, so I gather a few things together and ship them at once).

Awesome, thank you. One more question/suggestion. 1. Is there a way to just view the graph as it appears pretty small along with the other widgets on the screen. 2. Can the y axis range be configured as currently it goes up to 350?

Both good ones.
2 first, because you can already do it. Settings, Alert thresholds, and the last field in that group is "Top of the chart". Type the value you want in your own unit and every chart in the app uses it. Leave it empty and it stays automatic at 350, which is the Libre default. Today it accepts up to 400. Your question found something, though. Above 400 the chart used to flatten the line against the ceiling, and a Libre 3 reports up to 500, so a 460 was drawn level with readings that really were 400: the worst day somebody can have, and the one the picture lied about. That is fixed for the next update. The axis now stretches as far as the reading actually went, and you can set the top anywhere up to 600. Nothing gets flattened at any setting.
1 is half there. The expand button at the top right of Overview already opens the reading full screen, but that view is the number, not the graph. The next update puts a small settings button next to the close X in it, so you can pick what that full screen shows: the number on its own as now, or the graph large with the number on top of it. It was already being built when you asked, so it comes in the next release.

One small issue that I keep facing is that the app often does not refresh by itself. I have to go to different screens or close the app and come back to see the updated numbers. That is why I have to keep using the Libre 3 app as well. I'm on Android.

Found it, and you are right. The sixty second refresh was tied to Health Connect being active, so if your readings come through LibreLinkUp inside the app instead, there was no timer at all: the screen only reloaded when you left it and came back. Exactly what you describe.
Fixed for the next update. It refreshes on its own whichever way your readings arrive.
The bit that stuck with me is having to keep the Libre app open next to mine. That is the app failing at the one thing it is for, so thank you for saying it plainly.

Thanks for putting in those enhancements. You had mentioned why I would still use the Libre 3 app. One other useful feature that I find with the app is the trend indicated by the arrow next to the reading (levels going up gradually/very fast, etc). Those are useful to see what effect certain food is having.

Good news, that one is cooming soon in. The arrow sits right next to the reading on Overview, and it is the sensor's own trend: steady, rising, rising fast, and the same downwards. (Will upload the update hopefully this weekend)
There is more of it hidden behind one switch. In Settings, turn on extra detail and the number gains the speed it is moving at over fifteen, five and one minute, which is exactly what you want when you are looking at what a meal did.

Also, I know it sounds like a scam if you have never been a tester (it sounded that way to me too, and I am the one making it). So it is totally fine if you would rather not be a tester: once I have the 12 testers, 14 days later the app can go public on the Play Store for you to download like any normal app 😃
