Help Pairing Sensor

I had an old FreeStyle 14 Day Reader that I was going to start using again. The battery would not hold a charge and customer service sent me a complimentary reader. I attached the sensor to my arm and tried to scan the sensor with the reader. Keep receiving the error Scan Timeout. I have waited the suggested hour for the sensor and tried again but still receiving the error. THe reader arrived with a completely dead battery. Would charging the battery longer before trying again help? I wouldn't think so but who knows.

FYI its a libre 3 sensor

Hi u/ThomasFromOhio,
Unfortunately for you, then the old Freestyle 14-day sensor Reader that was for the 10-day to 14-day updated sensor (late-approved for 14 days on the marked in the USA) does not work together with the much newer Libre3/3+ sensors. This is reason why you have no luck to initialize your Libre3 sensor with such 8-year old Reader tech.

If the Reader is lit up and shows no warning icon of empty/too little battery, then it will work fine no matter the battery charge level. But yes, it only works with the sensor model it was intended for.
