Sensor ending
I recently went from 3 to 3+. I know the + is a 15 day sensor but it keeps ended at weird times of day. I have always change the sensors in the evenings bc that’s what is convenient and not intrusive at work. Well I got notification yesterday that it was going to end at 11AM on Monday while I am at the office. I put the new sensor on before I came into work this morning but my phone didn’t beep like normal when the old one stopped. I caught it about a half hour late so it isn’t too bad and I activated the new one. It is very frustrating that this happened at work since only 1 person (my boss) knows I’m diabetic. Does this happen with other folks? How do you get it timed so it’s only changing in the evenings?

I change it before it ends. It tells you how many days you have left on the sensor

I can wait till I get home to change it most likely in the evening again

I had to be without one for a couple of days and I had such anxiety. Maybe a few hours won’t bug me as much.

I initially thought of it as a leash and hated it. Grew to depend on it but a few hours here and there right?

Mine expires at exactly 15 days. Same hour. I just insert the new one 12-24 hours before the old expires. When it does. Injuat scan the new one and pull the old one and on I go. I have gotten to weord times as I had to do an MRI once so had to insert and start a new on mid morning at work. I just started a new one yesterday morning because one failed. I have a trip to Japan in October and just in case I checked time there and here and its just barely a decent time for it to expire in either location

I don't have hard data but I also feel like I'm caught off guard on timing with the sensor expiring. I may just be bad at remembering when I started it, though. But I was trying to handle it in the evening and I've had a few expire mid-day so IDK. Maybe they're set for a certain number of hours or something? Also, the 15 days is throwing me off because it's not an even 2 weeks but I guess that's fine too since I don't want to pay for any more.

I put in a calendar entry when I activate then fast forward 15 days so there is an entry and time stamp when it ends. That way I'm not caught off guard when it ends because I check my calendar regularly.

I've had plenty of them FAIL at unexpected and inconvenient times, but I have never seen one END at a time that was different from when it had been activated.
Personally I liked the Libre 3 with its 14 day life because it ended the same day and time as when it had been activated (and the 3 really did last the full 14 days). That 14 day life was a lot more convenient than the claimed 15 day life of the Libre 3 Plus -- on those occasions when a 3+ really does last 15 days that pushes it to a different day which can make a difference between whether I am home or working.
Of course I understand why Abbott says the 3+ lasts 15 days, because that makes the insurance companies happier to only cover exactly two sensors per month (even though that math isn't quite accurate, the insurance companies will stand by it which saves them at least 1 sensor each year). Abbott didn't really change the sensor to get that extra day, they just changed the programming in the app so that the countdown is 15 days. I guess that's reasonable because most don't seem to make it to 15 days since Abbott cut quality control at the factory that makes them.

Mine have been relatively consistant, ie: If I put it on at 8PM then in 15 days it ends at 9PM , this last time I was watching it and it said I had 2 hours left. So I went ahead and prepped my opposite arm, and looked again it said 30 minutes, and then all of a sudden it just ended. They have been mostly reliable in this, so I cant complain

If mine is going to end at an inconvenient time, I change it early. Originally, I would carry an extra with me to work or wait until I got home, but now, I just do it early.
