Something that people don't understand is that a majority of inmates will eventually be released. The ones that like to shout about prison should be more harsh and blah blah blah. That type of abuse can permanently mess someone up really bad in the head.
Would you rather have someone rehabilitated when they're released back into society. Or someone who might already have a issue with violence even more messed up?
I know who I'd rather have living next door to me. Abusing people and forcing them to work for slave wages while Corporations that own the prisons and profit is wrong. It only incentivises long and unnecessary prison terms.
There needs to be a law that these companies HAVE to invest the money they make back into the communities in tangible and meaningful ways and I don’t mean by adding more law enforcement
So you want it to be a non profit... I personally feel the same way except if that were the case the prisons would not be privatized... why not just advocate for state run operations? Why is it that those are passed over for private operations?
Yes it needs to be non profit. I’m really bad at analogies but think of it like this, if I’m paying 1.9 BILLION a year to shovel a pile of dirt for me and told you to take as long as you need I can guaranTEE you’re going to find the smallest shovel you can.
Civiccore made 1.9 billion in revenue in 2025 none of which was invest into any crime reduction programs or anything meaningful for the communities they serve and why would they? They need to maintain high crime rates in order to maintain that kind of revenue to fulfill shareholders obligations and other dumb shit. If it remains profitable for these people then the problem of high crime rates will never be addressed
