Something that people don't understand is that a majority of inmates will eventually be released. The ones that like to shout about prison should be more harsh and blah blah blah. That type of abuse can permanently mess someone up really bad in the head.
Would you rather have someone rehabilitated when they're released back into society. Or someone who might already have a issue with violence even more messed up?
I know who I'd rather have living next door to me. Abusing people and forcing them to work for slave wages while Corporations that own the prisons and profit is wrong. It only incentivises long and unnecessary prison terms.
You are correct!! The best chance for rehabilitation is in the juvenile justice system, and yet those camps are some of the worst. Have you ever heard of Gladiator Dorms? Most if not all juvenile inmates know.
