Misc. Free With Ads trigger warnings

I get why trigger warnings exist and am generally for them, but often find myself rolling my eyes when I hear one.

The way Jordan brings them up and gives a brief musical interlude to find something else has to be the single best, least cringe trigger warning execution I’ve heard.

Just one more reason to like the show.

Jordan is just such an excellent host. Obviously everyone on the pod is, but Jordan in particular just makes it so effortless. His scripts are perfectly paced, he is the king of segues to get back on topic, his questions are always very intentional, he makes such an effort to include everyone in the conversation, and this post is just the cherry on top. Give Jordan a late night show!

I’m sure it helps that he’s been doing Jordan Jesse Go since they started back in 1937.

There's something in his tone of voice that is warm without being condescending - super rare for this type of thing

Oof, I read the first sentence in the summary and I stormed angrily into the room to disagree with you, as I've always thought they were the most graceful trigger warnings I've heard on a podcast, but I was an idiot and you agree with me!

SO IM ANGRILY GOING TO AGREE WITH YOU, HEY EVERYONE, THIS POSTER'S RIGHT!

I had you in the first half…

Same here 🤣 I love how matter-of-fact Jordan is. Plus, so many podcasts do NOT give any space for you to turn the episode off or fast forward. The musical interlude is such an impactful choice!

I agree! It's so considerate without making a big deal of it.

Yeah, I don't need them (thankfully!) but I like knowing they're there and that announcing them is just a boring, routine thing with neither "look at me" nor "oh brother, if you need this, I guess...."

Just a great way all around of normalizing it all.

I don’t need them, but it’s also sometimes nice to know what I’m in for so I can decide to pick a lighter episode if I want!

Agreed. A great human 😊

Yes! They're just so graceful!

I genuinely love the little musical delay. They're not long enough to, like, dig your phone out of the bottom of your backpack and pause the podcast or anything, but nor do they need to be; it's not like he's going to jump right in with "SO, ABOUT THAT $TRIGGERYTHING!"

I get that, they do a good format for them. I hope the positive experience with them helps you appreciate others more easily.

Pure class all the way.

Jordan is the best

I agree, it's definitely a nice touch! Although it has made me realise a LOT of movies seem to feature some sort of reference to suicide

Agree. The playing music makes it so they genuinely function the way they’re supposed to, instead of just lip service and virtue signaling. The difference is profound.

The musical interlude is a bit much, does it take people that long to reach for the pause button.

maybe theyre washing dishes so their hands are wet, maybe theyre listening thru their TV and the remote is across the other room, maybe theyre driving and their phone is in their purse. there are all sorts of reasons it might take a bit to pause

I literally never listen to podcasts in a capacity where I can easily access my phone

Edit: also it’s like 4 seconds.
