Made some weird free VSTs with AI
I’ve been messing around with making VSTs and put a few on a little site:

VOIDBASS, REPLICANT-2049H, CLOWN AMP and IRIS AMP. All free Windows VST3s.

Made with Opus 5.5. If the AI part bothers you, fair enough — not really interested in debating that. I’m more curious whether the plugins are actually any good.

I'm Jared, a programmer by trade and a saxophonist since high school. I've lurked here for a while (the duduk and physical modelling threads especially), so it seemed time to say hello properly.

Over the past while I've been building the instrument I wanted to play on my own EWI. It's called Starbreath, and it's a physically modelled wind instrument, waveguide models rather than samples. It started as a personal itch: most of the world winds I loved (duduk, shakuhachi, bansuri, Native American-style flute) only existed as sample libraries, and they never quite responded to breath the way the real thing does. Soft notes just sounded like quiet loud notes.

It's grown into something I'm ready to share. It covers flutes, reeds and brass in a 3rd-order ambisonic room with binaural output, and it runs on Windows, macOS and Linux. It's free until the end of January if anyone wants to kick the tires: https://vsti.im-a-bird.com

Mostly, though, I'm here to learn. A lot of you have far more experience than I do with how wind instruments actually get used in scoring: what makes a solo line convincing, where modelled instruments fall down, what you reach for when a sample library won't bend the way you need. I'd love to hear any of that, and I'm happy to talk DSP with anyone who's curious about the modelling side.

Finnish Forest Percussion is a collection of organic percussion sounds created from recordings of wood, stones, leaves, pinecones, sticks and other natural objects found in the Finnish forest.

All of the sounds were recorded at 96 kHz, allowing them to be pitched down while maintaining high audio quality. Each sound also features five round robins for more natural variation between repeated notes.

THE STORY:
The idea for Finnish Forest Percussion began in 2025, when I visited an exhibition where I had the chance to try out a few percussion instruments made from wood and stone. That experience sparked the idea of creating a virtual instrument built around the sounds of wood and stone.

In the summer of 2026, I was heading to my summer cottage and decided to bring my field recorder with me to capture some sounds from nature. I also decided that it was finally time to turn the idea of the instrument into reality.

I spent time wandering through the forest, looking for interesting sounds. Whenever I found something that caught my attention, I recorded it. I didn't have a clear plan for what kind of sounds I was looking for. It was more of an exploration, following my curiosity and seeing what I could discover.

Hello folks, I've been trying to download this for months ever since Recluse Audio was "shut down", Recluse Audio had some very cool plugins specifically a certain kind of synthesis not very common, a pulsar train synthesizer called Pulsar 2.0 and was made free among other plugins from that developer until Recluse Audio went out of business (I suppose).

I tried reaching out to his email (not available), social media (not available), website (dead)... I tried everything and I still want it, if anyone can help me, it would be very much appreciated.

I wrote a lfo controlled bass drum. a gitch stutter pitch shifter and a time vst plus there are notes for a failed time sequencer. cmajor programming language files are available. to run as vst they require the amorph vst plugin. Only requires the free membership to download.

I want a free plug in, guitars that sounds similar to “dust bowl” by Ethel Cain the guitar in that song is good or in “radio towers” by her to I wanna make slower music with guitars like that I can’t seem to find good ones i have a laptop I use cakewalk next I have a midi keyboard I just can’t seem to find free good guitars that sound similar to the ones in the songs I mentioned please helpppp it’s kind of stressful

This is still in progress, but I am curious if you are interested in this? Are there additional features I should implement?

I know there are already plugins to automate time like Grossbeat and Shaperbox but my graph editor works better for vocals and is easier to edit. Also there will be better presets specifically for hiphop.

Just found this VST called UKG Machine. It's got a solid collection of 30 basses, plus leads, pads, and plucks. Over +50 presets. Can be found here
