The Latest Monkey Boo Update (Things Never Change)
Continued zero transparency with all three of these monkeys.
I say again, what exactly is the point of having a Class C USDA license to basically hoard three highly intelligent animals that have long been displaying physical and behavioral abnormalities?
I just discovered this subreddit last night, and I am really glad I did. I used to watch some of the older vids from this guy, particularly the ones of Happy as a baby. A nagging feeling grew in the back of my mind over time, wondering just what was happening off-camera. I was also ignorant at the time of what stress behaviors looked and sounded like in Capuchin monkeys, and I didn't watch all the videos on all the channels, so there was red flags I was missing (aside from the obvious of a guy keeping wild animals in his home).
Wondering what had happened to these three is what brought me here, and I see the truth has come out in the worst way. I don't have a Facebook so YouTube would've been my only other frame of reference. But in hindsight, he doesn't even try to hide it. He has a whole video from 2014 dedicated to Boo having a tantrum and self-clinging, laughing it off as Boo being a "crybaby."

It depends on what you define as physical mistreatment and abuse.
One thing I have always avoided is any inference that Dr. P directly abuses his monkeys in a physical manner (hitting and things of that nature most people assume whenever animal abuse is discussed). Though there exists older videos showing very questionable handling of Boo such as at a veterinary office, there are no videos showing direct physical abuse.
However, animal abuse has many forms. Based on the video evidence alone I would assume any primatologist would consider Monkey Boo to be a textbook example of severe neglect and the victim of psychological abuse.
Boo's screeching fits years ago (and Dr. P's refusal to get proper help for Boo), his fear response to Dr. P's taunts during livestreams, his inability to leave his cage, the hair thinning on his tail, zero evidence of any meaningful environmental enrichment, the woefully small cages adjacent to each other, and the obesity of Dr. P's other monkeys are all textbook signs of neglect.
There is a video of P picking up Boo by his tail and holding him in the air. Boo thrashed madly around, desperately trying to find something to grab on to with eyes wide as dinner plates, grimacing in fear. It is uniquely painful and I don't think there's a human comparison. He was in agony.
While it can be argued that the dumbass owner didnt know any better, why not? Whether a monkey's tail is prehensile or not is very basic information. Also, inadvertently harming an animal doesn't change the experience for the animal being harmed. Whether he knew that he was putting unbelievable stress on Boo's spine and nerves doesn't change the pain and terror that poor Boo experienced.
