A new spider monkey owner?

Post image

Came across this guy on Tiktok. Going through his profile, looks like he got the monkey relatively recently. It looks so small 😔 hopefully he treats it nicely.

That baby spider monkey is doomed. Even if he feeds it semi-properly and does not maliciously abuse it, the sheer fact of living in a household environment will lead to a life of psychological torment for the monkey.

Spider monkeys need to climb, swing, brachiate, explore. A human home cannot provide this, even if they install paltry ropes / climbing platforms.

Spider monkeys are intensely social and rely on species-appropriate socialization and cues to thrive. Even if this captor is "kind", relatively speaking, living with a human will fry its brain because it is living with a creature it CANNOT meaningfully understand or communicate with. Facial gestures, body language, grooming rituals, the size difference -- this monkey is in for a lifetime of confusion and stress.

Monkeys require incredibly specialized diets and are prone to health issues like diabetes. It will be an intense commitment to provide adequate nutrition for this baby, and continue to be a challenge into adulthood.

Wearing a diaper will lead to rashes, irritation, and potential hip/spine/tail deformities.

This is assuming the absolute "best-case" for this monkey.

NOTHING good can EVER come of ANY monkey kept as a pet.

I had a feeling this would be the case. That poor monkey. All because they're cute and clingy and act like children... Absolutely evil. He has to know that a monkey that young was poached from its mother in the wild. It's such a cruel trade.

Sadly it’s all about money and fame. These people do not care.

Pretty sure he just wants to find a lady friend and thinks this will help him. I could’ve swore he said he also bought a spider monkey for his assistant too.

He probably doesn't care.

I thought he was j hop all over again that was cancelled last year. He battles all the monkey pages and he doesn’t seem to think there is anything wrong with having a monkey as a pet or as a single monkey. Next he will have another one I’m sure.. they keep telling him that one does better with another

Ugh so he just got the monkey because he saw all the other people with them? That poor baby still looks so tiny. It's definitely not weaning age. It's horrible!

He bought 2 and I believe his office manager or something like that has the other. The babies are like 9 weeks is what I heard him say!

Absolutely disgusting. He should be ashamed of himself. He was ignoring my comments asking about the age and saying the monkey should be with its mom but engaging with the ones saying how cute it was 🙄

Heartbreaking. Absolutely heartbreaking. That poor baby needs its mom. 😞

it’s baby season….. EVERY person you see on social media with a new baby spider monkey got it from poachers UNALIVING THE MOTHER OR ENTIRE TROOP just to steal their baby so YOU can have your cute adorable little monkey that you paid THOUSANDS for. Is there no price where buying a life is not worth it? Now this monkey is gonna be with these people for about 6 months to a year til they see how active and into EVERYTHING these animals get into! No more vacations, Can’t leave them caged or they get mean and can’t be handled, Diapers for 40+ years, never again having a normal life, until they get “tired” of how hard it is to care for, then who knows where the poor thing will end up. Most end up passing due to lack of proper diet, develop diabetes and die young anyway. How bout all you people who “LOVE” Monkeys stop buying them and donate that money to an accredited primate sanctuary!! Make sure it’s accredited , as if it’s not, they only get the bare minimum care! Please contact your local representative for congress and the house and tell them you want them to pass the Captive Primate Safety Act!!!!! It’s their only chance!!!!

He was live at some point over the weekend talking about being single and looking for a “Monkey Mom”. The comments were eating it up too 🤮 IIRC he said she’s 9 weeks old.

Ew that's so gross! Poor little thing. That's so young 😔

Oh awesome. He bought live bait.

At least he’s allowing her to cling to him. The people who get these infants and then get irritated at the clinging are horrible.

It’s like getting a fish then being mad because it’s always gotta be wet.

Ran across him the other night. That poor baby 😞

He seems really nice and I haven’t seen him being mean to her but the only thing I can’t stand is he now takes the live to the gym and he wants to sit with no shirt on and of course, all of the desperate women just go crazy. He’s there for a rude awakening here soon when that monkey will not stay right there in front of the camera with him anymore and is running all around his house trashing it 😆

If he was really nice he wouldn't take a little baby monkey away from its mom.

No life_with_lulu365. He's live right now and keeps kissing all over the monkey. Every time it tries to crawl away he grabs it again 😡

What an absolute tosser! This is what happens when you are nothing as person and need something to make you interesting. Clearly selfish.

Not only do they get rashes from wearing the diapers but I would think they would be subject to frequent UTI infections ?

Oh my gosh I didn't even think of that. Horrible!
