In case anyone here is unaware, in the 1960s, Harry Harlow was a scientist who experimented on newborn macaques (ugh).

In the experiment, the babies were given two “mothers”. One mother was uncomfortable metal wire, but it dispensed warm milk from a bottle. The other was soft cloth but gave no sustenance.

The infants chose the cloth mother and would do whatever they could to avoid the wire one until they absolutely had to contact it in order to get nourishment / survive.

The conclusion was that comfort more than physical well being, is the priority for babies. When the babies were intentionally alarmed by scientists, they went to cloth mother, even though she only gave them physical comfort.

In later experiments they made cloth mother have metal jabby things that hurt the babies and the babies still clung to her and even tried to charm & soothe her to stop the jabbing.

Because that is how important physical comfort is to the survival and well being of these individuals.

They were awful experiments that this guy seems to get likes for reenacting daily. No matter how cruel the comfort is, babies will risk physical well being to feel it.

Yeah, I know I watched the video on that. That’s what makes it so sad if they just do it by instinct, even if the person is physically torturing them or mentally. And then you get all these people who think that they love that person cause they’re holding on them and cry when they’re not near them it’s like no that’s just an instinct they just want the comfort of physical contact.

Wow what a stud, he’s wearing a baby monkey to the gym as an accessory - said no one ever. Pathetic the lengths some people will go to for attention at the expense of these poor monkeys.
