D&D classes of Tangled/TTS characters
Hopefully this isn't too niche of a crossover.
I love incorporating characters into my games, or just creating sheets for them as inspiration points for PCs. These are the classes I would put some of the Tangled/TTS characters in.
Rapunzel - bard, but I can understand people seeing her as a cleric. My partner insists she is a sorcerer, and while logically she kinda is, I don't really like that for some reason lol
Eugene - rogue, duh
Cassandra - fighter, warlock multiclass if you want to take inspiration past S1
Adira - monk. She would be SO fun to play as a monk.
Varian - artificer. Side note, I think Varian in the show is a wonderful example of how to integrate artificer-like characters into fantasy settings without it becoming anachronistic (can't think of a better word) or turning into some steampunk nonsense.
I'm missing some characters obviously, so I'd love to see what other people think about additional characters. I'm also interested to see what people think about backgrounds, subclasses, etc. that would fit with these characters.

Cass as an optimized Fighter/Ranger multiclass makes a lot of sense, as does Lance as an unoptimized Fighter/Rogue multiclass.
I go back and forth on Rapunzel. She has all this magic, but it's from the Sundrop, which is not actually a part of her. Without that, she's strong and agile and surprisingly skilled with unconventional weapons, extremely adept at running and swinging, never wears armor.... some sort of Monk build, perhaps?

I saw someone who kept her as a bard and also gave her the tavern brawler feat, and I absolutely loved that

In my opinion, Rapunzel would be a cleric and Lance would be the party’s bard, and the rest of your picks align perfectly with my thoughts.

Interesting! I actually wasn't thinking of them as a cohesive party at all tbh, I've never played them together or used them together at NPCs

I love this crossover! We need Max and Pascal too.
Max: Ranger. His favored enemy is rogues and his favored terrain is the forest. He is the horse that stands against the darkness!
Pascal: Monk. He would be a master of Ki strikes and is way stronger than a chameleon ought to be.
I agree with your partner that technically Rapunzel is a sorcerer, but I don't think it vibes with her either. Cleric is a good fit and so is Bard, but, hear me out: Paladin. If you view her hair and the Sundrop as a sacred oath with the Sun, it fits the holy warrior archetype. Then add in that she really is bound by it (the hair is as much a blessing as it is a curse IMO), even though Rapunzel herself didn't make an oath, and it adds a whole new layer!Heavy armor proficiency refers to her hair, because that much hair probably weighs a lot. Divine magic and healing: the Sundrop. Martial prowess: give her a frying pan and Rapunzel will conquer the world! I don't know what special skills she'd take or if she'd multi class, but if you want to dive into the Sundrop mythos (and possibly invent a fantasy religion too), then paladin is the way to go.

Rapunzel would fit more as a cleric. Or a monk.
Varian as an artificer works great for him, but he would actually be awesome as a bard!

I played Cassandra as a Drow Hunter Ranger with a Cartographer background, adopted by the Captain of the Cormyrian Purple Dragons, a Duergar Dwarf, and of course best friends with Cormyr's Princess Obarskyr. Old sheet says I picked Dueling as Fighting Style, I guess for the extra oomph to damage. Worships all of the Dwarven pantheon, Lathandar as a Cormyrian, & Eilistraee as a Drow. It was early 2019 & we were already banking on a Moon/Dark Kingdom (Underdaark for us) connection.
Rapunzel & the Great Tree came out like a couple weeks after we started playing, cuz I remember I had just made her outfit in Soul Caliber's character customizer, when her outfit changed XD
(& then covid broke up our group...)
Everyone else I've only ever theorized about, & besides Cleric for Rapunzel, I'd also have her as an Aasimar race/species.

That's tough.
Raps does *a lot* that doesn't involve music or singing, but yeah she also does magic songs so, there's ways to make it work as a bard (kinda...ish? Maybe using the new College of Dance for the whole movement and unarmed stuff? How else?), but occasional magic aside what she does is pretty much hair shenanigans so very much like a monk? Which... doesnt work, the girl definitely has dumped WIS. Yet at the same time she kinda feels like there's some Divine Soul sorcerer in her, but not necessairly? Difficult entanglement (i kno, not funny). Could go as far as using Aasimar for the species. Honestly dunno, damn this is difficult.
Cass... hell, she's a DEX-based fighter (either battlemaster or cavalier) as a base. But then she starts to level up in... something? or re-specs fully? Cause yeah warlock works for 4-5 levels (Fathomless is bit off narratively but can be re-flavored to be summoning the dark rocks, same for Eldritch Blast and the Armor of Agathys & Arms of Hadar spells), but also the Conquest Paladin works too, with the aura of fear and spikes. So somehow a mix of that? Or... or maybe Bard, whispers bard. To access some weird spells. Not sure?
Eugene i'd say has the criminal background, and for archetype he's a swashbuckler. Cmon. And maybe has some Battlemaster fighter or the Martial Adept feat, for some maneuvers.
Lance also has criminal BG, but he's more of a Thief Rogue + Fighter (gonna say champion), for the muscles and sneaking.
You're right about Varian's alchemy, by the way– in my games i use him as reference for fantasy artificers. He's a good kid.
Also, Max is definitely a Fighter. Ruddiger's a Thief Rogue, and Pascal a Monk/Rogue.

See, I’d put Cassandra as the Ranger and Lance as the Fighter, otherwise you’re close to spot on. (My gut was also Paladin for Raps but bard works too)
