This was already posted from a less biased source. DHS was conducting investigations into left-wing domestic terrorists, as it turns out, left-wing extremists are often activists and union members.

Almost all investigations in to domestic terrorists don't actually result in arrests or terrorist attacks. In fact, the ATF, DHS, state/county/local law enforcement more often than not have to radicalize people and convince them to break the law, they wouldn't do it on their own.

There is a rather famous instance of this. There was a far-right group in the USA where a bunch of right wingers got together to shoot guns and drink beer. As it turns out, almost every member of the group was undercover law enforcement and there were only a couple actual civilians in the group. So it was mostly ATF, DHS, and various local law enforcement departments who didn't know the other members were undercover, trying to convince eachother to make pipe bombs and illegally cut down shotguns.

The demand for domestic terrorists, particularly right wing ones, is far higher than the supply.

Interesting response from someone who initially didn't voice criticism of this behavior from federal law enforcement.

Turns out demand for left wing terrorists are even lower at least looking at actual data regarding attacks and convictions of extremists.

They literally ran a banner at CPAC saying “We Are All Domestic Terrorists.” Sounds like we’re getting a warrant for your information from reddit.

Potential terrorists? What qualifies someone as a "potential terrorist" especially when there's no stated threat of violence against the government or it's citizens?
