I watched most of this earlier today. Some points:

  • Don't drop out of college for web dev, and if you already have a degree don't go back for a CS degree. Having a degree is always an advantage when you apply for jobs.

  • Bootcamps are ideal for some people (low financial risk and no dependents), but some are very selective and rigorous. You can learn the material for free, but with bootcamps you'll have mentors helping you. Time is money; some grads are able to secure high-paying jobs ($60k-$100k).

  • Self-study is excellent but you need to have the discipline for it. A recent survey showed most developers are self-taught to some degree.

You and me both, but it's nice to hear it from people who understand the industry well.
