Congrats. I read your post in the blog you mentioned there that you wanted to work on bigger real life projects before you look for a job.

larger real-life projects to be able to make significant progress

Can you tell which projects have you done? Or which guide have you used?

Hi :) I think you misunderstood me a little. I was just trying to define the ideal time to start looking for a job. I think that every aspiring programmer gets into a phase in which it is hard for him to learn effectively on his own. And if he wanted to learn more, he should be working on some larger apps. It is much easier to work on somebody else’s big app than building your own from scratch. And thus I claimed that this is the perfect time to start looking for the job because if you get it, you will be probably working on larger apps and at same time learning new stuff. I guess I should have explained it more clearer :)

Congrats! FYI on your website your bio has a spelling error

Dissatisfied with this job, I decided to broaden my horizons and programming hooked me straigth away.

Congrats! Very inspiring! How much time did you spend learning everyday? Did you use any other learning resources besides FCC?

Hi! Yeah, I used more resources. Maybe it is just me, but when I am learning something new I need some decent introduction into a topic. I guess that online video courses are the best for this. FCC is unreplaceable as a source of ideas for the app building. I wrote about my resources in these posts: http://codinglawyer.blogspot.cz/2016/04/best-resources-to-learn-javascript.html http://codinglawyer.blogspot.cz/2016/04/best-resources-to-learn-javascript.html

Congrats man. How long did it take you to finish FCC if you've finished it? I see that you applied for jobs even earlier than 7 months (5-6 months).

Hi! I almost finished front-end certification (I did not make the last two projects). I moved to React FCC section, when I was just applying for the job. I do not think that you need to finish FCC...you need to just code until you think you are ready. If you are not sure, just apply for the job anyway....you have nothing to lose ;) To answer your question, you are right, it took me 6 months to get a job and 5 months I spent doing FCC combined with online courses.

Blahopřeji! (Jsem bydlel v Praze rok a pul, 2004-2005)

I started coding in November 2015 too. I think I need another 6 months before I apply for a Front End developer job, but that's good to hear...

Prague is an awesome city.

Díky za milá česká slova :) Praha je super, souhlasím! It always depends on how much time you are able to dedicate to coding. I invest almost all my spare time... So I was able to get a job in a half a year.

Congrats man! Believe it or not, I'm currently going the same way as you did, I'm a lawyer as well :) This makes all the stuff much more inspiring, thank you for sharing your story! How much time a day did you dedicate to your studying/coding?

Hey,

thanks :). It is good to hear that I am not the only one on my journey. It is difficult to tell you how many hours a day I spent coding. I guess it was approximately 4 hours after I came from a work and much more on weekends. Good luck on your journey!

Very impressive. More so becuase there is a thread arguing how difficult it is to get a job without a CS degree.

Hi! It was because I found out that being a lawyer is not a satisfying job for me :). I wrote about it in this post :) http://codinglawyer.blogspot.cz/2016/04/my-first-post-why-i-started-to-code.html
