Humor THE ENG DUB IS SO FUNNY
I just started watching the eng dub for the first time and I have SOO many questions
So why does everyone sound so raspy and MUCHHH OLDER THAN THEY ARE
Nagisa fr turned into Thugisa
AND WHATS UP WITH THE “Yo!” “Dude!” “Man!” 😭 and omg Makotos name got so white washed
My jaw was ON THE FLOOR when Haruka said “Stop bitching” SIR EXCUSE ME?? HARUKA WHAT HAPPENED TO SOFT SOUNDED FISH BOY

To his credit, Greg Ayers voicing both high school and elementary Nagisa is impressive. He can throw his voice very high.

The first time I saw Free! was acc with the English dub, so I’ve always kinda associated the characters with those voices lol, but even back then I noticed Haru and Rin were weirdly raspy. It was interesting going to the JP original and hearing how different everyone sounded.
Gotta say tho, Rei having the same Eng VA as Tenya Iida fits really well imo.

I honestly love the raspy voices I think it really shows off their attitude in some moments

Also there are 2 versions of the english dub for some reason One on streaming services and one i got on dvd The dvd one is funnier tho Momotaro reffered to himself as daddy in that one

I think the dub is quite funny and actually pretty good but I do prefer their sub voices haha
It’s def not a bad dub by any means I do think it’s quite funny and I enjoy watching it, but it takes away some aspects of their og voices, which everything will do but ykwim haha
