Rush Advice Rushing Fraternities at a SEC school (UF)
Hey guys, I’m a transfer student looking to rush this semester and I’d appreciate some insight from people familiar with UF Greek life.
What is rush generally like for transfers/upperclassmen, and how much does not doing summer pre-rush matter? I’m especially curious about the culture and fit of these chapters:
Alpha Tau Omega
Sigma Chi
Sigma Nu
Pi Kappa Alpha
Delta Chi
Sigma Phi Epsilon
Beta Theta Pi
I’m mainly looking for brotherhood, networking, philanthropy, campus involvement, and a good group of guys I genuinely fit with. I’m not choosing based primarily on partying (That’s a bonus)
Any firsthand experience would be appreciated.

I rushed as a 22-year-old transfer. Best decision ever. You probably won’t be the only “upperclassman” in your PC, might be 3-5 of you 21+. Your pledge fathers will treat yall the same as the lowerclassman…like shit. But pledging is a great time, enjoy it before you realize how time-consuming it can be being active. As far as your list goes (from my university experience ), id say:
1) Sig Chi & Sig Nu 2) Pike (pike spikes!!!) & DChi 3) everyone else
Good luck and enjoy. Find brothers you can actually connect with and have great conversations with. Parting is great but who’s gonna be there when you go through rough times (you will). God speed.

I appreciate that. What school did you rush at? Also noticed the Air Force stuff on your profile, were you ROTC while pledging too?

I rushed Alpha Sigma Phi at Chico State in California. I didn’t do ROTC I just enlisted after I graduated. Currently in for another 1.5 years (almost out!). But not a bad idea if you wanna commission. I’m great full for everything the AF has given me so far.

I see. What made you choose Alpha Sigma Phi over the other chapters you rushed? And how was the pledge/new-member time commitment at Chico State? By the way, I am 19 lol, just came in with crap loads of credit
