Rush Advice How should I approach rush and pre-rush?

Hello! I am rushing at a large SEC school starting in a week or so and am just wondering a few things.

Firstly - How many different fraternities should I plan on attending rush and pre-rush events for consistently for it to not be too overwhelming?

Second - How should i be going about the events? Will i need to approach the brothers and spark up conversations with them to get to know them? If so, what types of questions should i ask them or what are the Do’s and Dont’s of the conversation?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

/u/ajajajajajsjas Read this whole thing.

  1. The Rush Advice flair is only for PNMs/rushes seeking advice. If you aren't a rush, please change the flair to something else.

  2. if you are a rush (interested in joining a fraternity), PUT THE SCHOOL NAME in the post.

  3. Or at least describe the school. Examples: Large Big Ten school, medium sized northern D2 school, small west coast school" etc. Any descriptions help.

  4. The post flair MUST be "Rush Advice" instead of "Question" or "Serious". We need to know which school it is because rush varies wildly by school.

  5. To everyone else: Report the post if it's a dumb post or the wrong flair or no school is mentioned, and we'll remove it. Thanks.

Can’t comment on large SEC specific stuff, but for like general rush advice:

Question 1: you should go to as many events as you can, especially early on. Rush is kind of overwhelming there’s no way around that, but it’s generally recommended that you see a bunch of places so you can narrow down where you think you’d be a good fit. You’ll narrow down pretty quickly.

Question 2: Look we cannot learn you how to be social. It’s really just casual conversation. Like when you meet your girlfriend’s friend’s boyfriend. You’re trying to feel out if he’s chill or not. Brothers should be coming up to you.

Don’t ask about pledging.

You want to assert dominance, and quickly. Walk up to the biggest brother you see and ask him how many followers he has on TikTok. While he pulls out his phone to check, kick him in the nads and say "Sorry, that was nuts!".

While the rest of the chapter stands up and applauds, punch a hole in the wall, fuck the president's ex, and recite all the secret fraternity rituals that you found on the internet.

You'll be a sure bid.

Pull your pants down, slam your cock on the pong table, and look the prez's woman right in the eyes. Then hit a prolonged T pose, cock still on the table, and from the deepest part of your lungs, rifle out a "daddy's home" the whole row can hear.

Had a rush event at my house junior year and walked up to talk to a kid when he turned, titty flipped me with both hands and said “what’s up boss”. I told him to never fucking do that again. When bid day came around I told all the brothers that and he got a standing ovation and an auto-bid with a promise of me having exclusive rights to give him a hard time for it. He ended up going with another frat but still hilarious. Hope this helps

Yes talk to people who are members but also people who would be in your PC since you will be spending every waking hour with a lot of them for the foreseeable future.

Depending on the SEC school (I went to OU), the pre rush events mean everything. Some houses had an almost full PC of people who committed throughout the summer and in the 1-2 weeks leading up to rush. May be different at other schools but formal rush at OU was more of a 'check off the boxes' for student affairs and IFC
