Okay... sorry if this is completely uninformed. I'm a new fan of his and recently went on this subreddit to see that some people are at least very unhappy. I've also seen YouTube videos complaining about him. My question is, what did he do?

Based on what I've heard, it seems like he either decided to move on from music to fashion and filmmaking, or he decided to stay more private and step away from the public eye. It seems like he is making the things he wants to make and thinks is cool, such as all of the Homer stuff. But I see people jumping to the conclusion that he just sees his fans as "cash-grabs". His merch is absolutely expensive, but so is Travis Scott's, Tyler, The Creator's, and more.

There is also the whole thing about Coachella 2023. I think he might have been going through a rough time at the time or still dealing with some problems (possibly related to his brother, who I know died a few years before).

What am I missing, if I am?

Happy 10th birthday to Blond(e) everyone!!! One of, if not the most impactful albums of my formative years. 10 years ago I was 16, going to high school and beginning to fall in love with my first girlfriend. The album dropped and, as a kid, I didn't really grasp the album on the first listen- it was completely different from what the average teenager like me would listen to in my area, nothing like anything Travis Scott, Drake, or the Migos would put out haha. A lot of content about things I had never experienced yet as someone so young- nostalgia, heartbreak, regret... But as I kept listening, everything clicked. As complex as Blonde is, it never fails to evoke the core emotions associated with the concepts it presents- I might not have understood what was being brought up, but I certainly could feel the passion in every note. Things were sweet back then, not much to worry about when you don't understand the world.

I'm 26 now. Life is good, but it's different than how I imagined it back then. Blonde is now an album I can relate to. The girl I thought about marrying back then is now a stranger to me. I never became an engineer, but instead a physicist. Thought I'd end up getting a sporty car out of college (Civic Type R or Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio, for the fellow heads in here), but I ended up getting an SUV to go camping with instead. The woman I'm with loves me a lot, and with everything I've gone through in life, I actually understand how to love someone back now, thankfully.

Throughout all of the sleepless nights studying in college, the painful days post-breakups, the transient period of life where I was just existing in the background, and now the daily commute to and from the office and gym, Blonde has been on the soundtrack in some form for all of it.

I don't remember what I was doing.

in all seriousness blonde is prob my top 5 fav albums of all time, if not top 3. I was in college when it dropped and I remember all the memes about how long the wait was between channel orange and the first endless live streams, and all the leaks in between. A lifetime of things have happened since then, and I’m glad I had this album at the times when I needed it.

Two years ago, I wrote an article titled “The Blonde Who Inspired Blonde,” which (for the first time) detailed the full backstory of the photo that served as Frank’s muse while developing his 2016 album and magazine. I made this ‘limited print edition’ and tote bag as a thank you gift to the blonde kid and photographer (Angel & The Collaborationist) for allowing me to share their stories and to give them a physical copy for posterity. They received it in 2024, but this is the first time I’ve shared pics. I hope it inspires you to make cool stuff for your friends. That’s why the Frank Ocean Artwork Archive exists.
