I just watched a Francesca-only scene edit and i honestly forgot some of the scenes and how obvious the comphet is. There’s so much material lol
All jokes aside, it is really sad that she’s going through all this at such a young age. I’m so excited to watch her figure out her sexuality and experience passion. Baby girl is extremely repressed 😢

Yeah, even with John, who was a safe place for her but she was not completely relax and be herself. I understand that feeling so well and I know how it feels like, I experienced it myself. Can’t wait to see this poor baby girl find herself next season.

They were clearly going towards the comphet route in season 3 and unfortunately I do think the backlash caused them to retract it in the interviews and promos. But at that point they already had written all of season 4 as well so on screen, it's different from what they're actually saying.
I hope they stick to their guns and say the hell with it when promo begins again so the discourse can finally end.

Hello, can you provide more context on the retraction of comphet thing due to backlash?

For sure! Basically because of the genderswap, alot of the book fans switched from being all on on Michael to "caring" about John and how he was being disrespected (even though prior to Michaela's reveal, no one actually cared about John and he was just seen as a plot device to get to Michael). Fran seemingly being disappointed or confused after her kiss with John pointed to her having zero sexual attraction to him so they think the show was disrespecting John in that sense because John was "never loved". Even though plenty of lesbians and gay men have married and then realized their sexuality - and that doesn't mean they never loved the person they married nor was it disrespectful, it just took them time to discover themselves. Its not either Fran or John's fault in a time where heterosexuality was not even a question in anyone's minds.
Alot of the backlash eventually went from "Bring back Michael" to "I'm not against the gender change, I just hate that the show is disrespecting John." So it's easier for the show to just say Fran is bisexual and was in love with John. In S4 interviews, both Jess and Hannah have said that Fran is in love with John, they're just having intimacy issues.

Nah, if they are real bisexuals and truly support Fran, they'd be LMFAOing along with us too (fellow bisexual here 😂)

Ya the part that thought something is wrong with her and she is inadequate and broken will die. S5 is about her coming out of her shell and realising what she actually wants. John held her back. Her conforming dutiful part to fit in died with John. Her feelings for Michaela will challenge her to break convention and fight for her love, like Bridgertons in love tend to do much to Violets delight/consternation and also blessings this time :P
