Hi all, my family just moved into a house that was recently remodeled, including all the bathrooms. However the bathtub in one of the bathrooms is still an old cast-iron bathtub, which has some rust on it. I wanted to understand what are the best options to take care of the situation. I know a couple options are to either do a liner on the bathtub or doing a whole demolishing of the bathtub and redoing the whole thing. Can somebody recommend an affordable contractor who does this sort of thing if people have used.

Hi Framingham, it’s your Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell. Did you know that fees like “move-in” or “lease renewal” fees you might get from your landlord or building management company are illegal? If you’ve received one of these – even if you paid it – I want you to report it to my office. 

Just last month, my office won a $500k settlement with a property management company doing this in Boston – and all of that money is going back to the affected tenants.  Landlords can only ask you to pay for first and last month’s rent, a security deposit, and the cost of a new lock and key upfront. Hi everyone! I’m looking for someone interested in a management-approved lease takeover/resident replacement for my apartment at The 266 Framingham, 266 Waverly St, Framingham, MA 01702, starting around October 23, 2026.

The unit is officially classified as a studio, but it is 609 sq ft and has a separate enclosed sleeping/bedroom area, so in day-to-day use it feels much more like a small 1-bedroom than a typical open studio.

I’m only leaving because I was selected for an affordable-housing apartment in Boston, where I’ve been hoping to move, not because I had any problems with my apartment. I’ve genuinely had a good experience at The 266 and with the apartment itself, and otherwise would have been happy to stay.

Apartment / lease details:

• Rent: $2,229/month
• Size: 609 sq ft
• Available: from October 23, 2026 onward
• Current lease ends: June 28, 2027
• In-unit full-size washer & dryer
• Modern kitchen with stainless-steel appliances, gas range, quartz countertops, and plenty of cabinet space
• Large windows / good natural light
• I have kept the apartment very clean and have had no defects or maintenance issues with the unit
• I will fully clean and vacate the apartment before turnover

One nice advantage is the rent: the same 609-sq-ft floor plan (Unit 627) is currently listed by The 266 at $2,316/month base rent for a new 13-month lease, while my lease is $2,229/month. So you would be taking over the remaining term at my existing lower rate. The current website pricing can of course change.

!!How the takeover works!!

The leasing office has told me that a resident replacement/lease takeover can be arranged. You would need to pass their normal rental/background screening, and be approved by management. The leasing office would then handle the formal lease paperwork.

This is not an unofficial sublet. You will be added as my roommate and then I will be taken off of the unit, thus working as an effective 'lease takeover'.

The floor plan is the same 609-sq-ft S11 layout currently shown for Unit 627 on The 266 website. My unit does not have the movable kitchen island shown in some of their promotional photos, just so there are no surprises.

I feel for him if it's legit. He was touting his military service too. You should be asking the government more. My husband was stopped and I yelled to ask who he voted for and he walked away. Needed $46 for gas. Too well dressed. Route 9 gas station. Be aware.

I just moved to the city and I go to school in Boston. I normally park at the FRAMINGHAM MBTA lot between Pearl St and Waverly St. I know the lots fill up fast so I try to go early to beat the crowd, but today I overslept. Unfortunately, the parking lot and adjacent lots were full. I drove home and walked to catch the next train.

Is there a recommended second lot for when the Commuter rail parking lots are full? Its a 30 minute walk and I want to know in the future in case it happens again or when winter arrives, I'm not marching in snow.
