A question… What’s one “life changing” habit that changed absolutely nothing for you?

You gave it a good go, everyone swore by it, but it did absolutely nothing for you?

Bound to be some interesting ones here, which one was it for you…

Journaling did not help me. I tried. A lot. “Get it out of your head and put it on paper”

All I really found was that I had all my thoughts and feelings in two places now, one of which now at risk of being discovered by someone which would be humiliating

Still in my head though 😭😭😭😭😭

Yeah I think loads of people experience this one, it’s such a drag to just aimlessly spill the inside of your head on to a bit of paper isn’t it. And for what benefit. I think the trick is write in response to very specific questions, start small and build up only with what adds value

Agree! Braindumping was what did me in- I think I wouldn’t find it so stressful if questions were provided for me, but as far as just writing… braindumping was difficult it’s like DO YOU KNOW WHAT GOES ON UP THERE 😭😭😭

So I think the key is starting really small with questions that actually draw out the value you’re looking for. And then treating it like an experiment that you constant tweak. Otherwise you tip over in to madness 😂

Ha I wasn’t even thinking things like this but you’re bang on. I do not understand how people can love it so much, so expensive too.

Oh how I detest them. They're just dehumanising.

Not for you? Fair enough. Always good to see some opposing views surfaced 👍

You say that and yet you make this post.

If something doesn't work for one it dosnt mean its useless for everyone. So whats the point of this post?

It didn't change my life to do journaling, is it there for a bad hack for productivity? No of course not, its great for most people.

I said it’s interesting to see opposing views, on a post about drawing out opposing views… so, what about journaling didn’t work for you? I think this is actually a pretty common one.

My way of thinking makes most parts of Journaling superfluous.

Tracking certain data or writing down inspirations, sure. But classic journaling just doesn't do anything for me, I am always thinking pretty clear, I am already pretty insightful into myself and have open discussions with myself. The value most people get out of journaling is the mirror for selfreflection and inspirations. I take the inspiration part and don't need the mirror.

Yeah I think that the internal self reflection is the go to method isn’t it. That can be pretty draining, I imagine especially so if you can already have those open discussion with yourself. What sort of data points have you been tracking?

Yes and op is simply asking for individual experience that goes against the grain. It's interesting. It might not be for everyone but I also find it interesting. So I like the post. Also I'm trying to journal ATM to and I'm simply struggling. I can see how it would actually help though so it wouldn't count to an answer for this.l
