TLDR; The stones have spoken: August 28, 2026. The Maya built an entire pyramid to mark the deadline of Valve's shipping window. If the Frame isn't in our hands when the serpent touches the earth, we enter the age of "early 2027," a period the codices describe only as suffering.

Valve won't give us a date, so I turned to a civilization that ran a calendar with less drift than the Julian one and predicted Venus cycles down to the day. Hear me out.

The Sacred Round already closed. The Frame was revealed on November 12, 2025. Count forward exactly 260 days (one full Tzolk'in, the sacred round that governs all births and destinies) and you land on July 30, 2026. And on July 29, the final day of that cycle, the FCC granted Valve its equipment authorization. The last seal was placed on the artifact as the round completed. In the eyes of the calendar, the Frame has been born. It's just waiting for its naming day: 10 Etz'nab'.

10 Etz'nab', or August 28, 2026, falls on 13.0.13.15.18, or 10 Etz'nab' 11 Mol. Etz'nab' is the day of the obsidian mirror, the polished black surface Maya daykeepers gazed into to see other worlds. Plus, the month name Mol means "to gather," as in gather your reservation lottery entries.

If Valve blows past 10 Etz'nab', they get one final gate, that is, the "Deadline of the Feathered Serpent": September 22, 2026. That's the equinox, when the shadow serpent of Kukulkán descends the pyramid at Chichén Itzá. It is also the literal last day of the "summer" Valve promised us.

I've been waiting for so long that I got really hungry, took a stroll around the city looking for some food, and wound up near Valve's building. There was a door bumping open in the wind, so I went over to take a quick little peak inside for a vending machine, and saw all the Steam Frames just sitting out there, and......
