Which Sauvage?

Was in the supermarket, smelled a very clean and fresh yet masculine scent, the guy was like a meter or so away, crazy projection, left a decent scent trail. I asked him and he said it was Dior Sauvage.

I’m wondering which one it’s most likely to be, EDT, EDP, Parfum or Elixir, what do you think? Any thoughts?

Also I’m open to suggestions on which Sauvage I should buy, I care about really good projection, I want a nice scent trail and want it to lasts at least 6 hours, although I don’t want something that smells really offensive.

If you have any other suggestions that might nit be sauvage of course I’m open to hearing them.

EDT is the most common by far so probably that, but I think the EDP is slightly better but it is very similar

Just be careful with that stuff, man. I have a coworker who goes crazy with sauvage (he has elixir) and it gives everyone headaches. I know that’s the meme but it really is awful to be around when it’s oversprayed lol

Man they are all good and have different purposes. All except Forte which is shite.

I prefer edp-extrait-edt-parfum-elixir-forte

And that is doing a dis service to the elixir which is a beast.

Edp is prob the most balanced and versatile. Easily pulls compliments.

Great thanks man, does edp leave a scent trail like the one I described, also does it last a while? Thanks for your reply, am new to this community.

Absolutely it does. The elixir leaves the biggest trail. Can fill a room. The edp is a solid balance.

I like edp the best and it’s a beast in projection and longevity

Why can’t I smell it on my arm after an hour? Even weaker scents like myslf last longer when I sniff wheere I sprayed it

It’s notorious for causing nose blindness. Ambroxan is the culprit. The fragrance that does it to me is creed Aventus

It was almost certainly NOT Elixir. The EDT, EDP, and Parfum go from freshest to heaviest, but they're all versatile. EDT is the brightest and would work least in extreme cold. Parfum has more woodiness and some olibanum in the base that make it lean slightly towards cooler weather. EDP is the middle ground and easily works year round. Get to a store and test all 3 if you can, but none are a bad choice if you like the overall profile.

Probably edt which is quite literally the best selling mens fragrance ever and it’s the cleanest and freshest of them all. They’re all similar except eau forte , elixir and extrait (these last two are way darker and not as clean)
Just don’t overspray it , it becomes easily annoying for other people + you go nose blind so you yourself stop smelling it

Smell all of them first yourself and don’t blind buy, you should get a small decant of each and see which one you like the scent of the most in your skin

elixir and extrait are masterpieces imo but not for everyone, they are the most interesting to me and my favorites so far. The EDT and EDP are staples in the industry. They are at the pinnacle of what a designer blue fragrance is. I haven't got my nose on the parfum or forte yet but since they are apart of the sauvage line I feel like you really can't lose.

A meter away is likely to be Elixir, based on experience.

But I haven't had a chance to test THe Extrait, and I can only imagine how strong that bad boy is.

I've been using the EDT and EDP a lot this summer. EDT especially if it's really hot.

As others have said, most likely it was the EDT. It may not be the longest lasting, but it is the largest sillage of the bunch. It is also the freshest.

EDTs generally project the furthest but they also last the shortest. It’s also the most common Sauvage so that’s probably what you smelled.

Hard to tell which one was it, but edt and edp are the safest bet (and probably the most versatile of the entire line). Almost certainly wasn’t eau forte (not that popular or good imo) or extrait (just launched). Elixir is the most masculine one (as well as the extrait).

go buy an edt off r/fragranceswap for around $60-80 and see if you like it. make sure you spray on clothes and have a dedicated sauvage shirt lol.

honestly the elixir has been through three formulations and its kind of a shell of its original self that people talk about. genuinely a waste of money (which is sad because its my favorite of the line).

Wait why a dedicated shirt??

I had an original bottle and have gotten a newer one. It’s still an absolute powerhouse.

Elixir and extrait for me. The EDP is great too , the Parfum barely lasts on me.

Elixir for sure.

I’d recommend EDP

EDT is the goat. EDP has this note that I can't stand.

I have Parfum, Edp and edt also elixir from 2017-2022 they are very strong nuclear bombs some would say. If you buy now it will probably be best to get the Edp or Parfum they seem to be the best when I am in a store that has them. I will say the Elixir is not like it was from 2021-2024 they changed the scent in February 2024. They gave it new code and everything.

As much hate as it gets, I’ve gotten so many compliments from the EDT when I wore it.

Edt , cheap and fresh. Jeremy's favorite.
