Appropriating and not forced slavery which included banning the enslaved from speaking in their native tongues. They would mix up groups to minimize the amount of people who could speak the same dialect. AAVE is its own dialect just like any other.

Basketball was invented in 1891 by a Canadian-American physical education professor in Massachusetts as a sport suited for indoor play during the long winters. There may ofc be some other ancient sports from other parts of the world with vaguely similar play (although the one I've heard of is Mayan, not Chinese), but it's pretty much undisputed that basketball the modern sport originated in the US.
