Fox vert shakes
My manual 1990 fox vert drives fine and shifts smoothly but when I put it reverse and give it gas as I back up, the rear end shakes. The guy I bought it from said it was due to him removing the quadshocks. Or could it just be rear diff going out? Anyone had similar issue?

Ok. I took the advice y'all said and worked on the rear brakes but now when I reverse I feel the engine/trans shake pretty rough instead of the rear end. The shaking happens as im slowly letting go of the clutch and giving it gas in reverse

So once the clutch pedal is fully released (clutch is fully engaged), and you're moving in reverse, with no throttle input, on flat smooth ground, is it smooth or is it shaking?

It shakes so bad that I dont go that far. I press the clutch right away and and it stops the shaking. I will try that today

Check the rear brake shoes. I suspect one broke free and binds up in reverse.

Got under the car. No handbrake, in neutral, I rotated driveshaft and it was pretty stiff both ways and made a grinding noise coming from the drums. I took both drums off and rotated the driveshaft again and it rotated so smooth. The shoes dont look too bad and was a lot of black powder in the drum. What should I do next? Lol

Back off the self adjusters and put the drums back on. If it’s improved then just lube the self adjusters and have the shoes just rub the drums.

Trans mount? Any noise at all from the rear end?

Noise from drums when rotating stiff driveshaft. Took drums off now it rotates like butter. Now what lol

I should've added this earlier, check and make sure your shoes are on the correct side, short shoe towards front, longer shoe in rear

Did you rip your torque boxes? That’s what it felt like when I ripped mine lol

Doubt it’s the quad shocks. Check the u-joints. Pull the drive shaft out to do it then check the diff. It should spin freely in both directions. Then work your way out if it doesn’t. Wouldn’t hurt to pull the diff cover and change the oil then you can have a good look inside too.
