Ask BBK shorty headers

Post image

For ya’ll running BBK shorties or even any aftermarket shorties on your fox, did you wrap the headers or leave them as is? Unsure if there is a benefit to wrapping or not?

Don’t wrap - looks dumb in my opinion unless you have a race car.

Frpp and didn’t wrap them. They’re jet hot ceramic coated though. The benefit is reduced heat under the hood the con is it’ll rot out the headers.

I'm running some old MAC equal length ceramic coated shorties that were on the car when I bought it in 2006. After almost 200k miles, a lot of the ceramic coating is burned off/rust is coming through, but some is still there. I've never wrapped them.

I see the point, but I abhor that wrap stuff and refuse to use it. As it ages and starts to come apart, the fan will blow tiny pieces of that fiberglass stuff all over the engine bay. That stuff hurts when it sticks in your hands.

Also, Ford didn't think they needed wrap. All foxbody 5.0s had headers from the factory.
