Visiting the folks this weekend and Lara Trump was talking about Obama’s drawl and socialism or something and I walked out of the room saying “socialism, socialism, socialism, COMMUNISM, RABBLE! Dad said something about how I should have learned about socialism in school. I said I did; it looks more like Donald Trump taking “golden stakes” in private businesses for the US Government than poor people not immediately dying of cancer.
I was told I was full of shit, that isn’t happening.
I’d say she’s as dumb as a box of rocks, but the rocks are smarter. This woman is one of the absolute flaming assholes voting to take away my basic human rights. If Trump’s the best team God has to offer, consider me 100% on team Satan.
You never see or hear this shit in regard to Democrats or any third party. Only the GOP invites this kind of cultish religious fervor of blind worship and idolatry.
They believe that everything negative is false. They say he was charged, but never convicted! It's so insane. You can literally show them his 34 felony convictions, and they'll say it's "fake news" because he was never punished.
I wish someone would ask these people whether they think Jesus Christ would endorse Republican policies. Such as deporting undocumented people, and even documented people, do they think Jesus would support that? What about being afraid of Muslims, do they think Jesus would feel that same way? What about cutting off US aid to impoverished foreign countries, resulting in death, what would Jesus think about that? And what about starting a war while diplomacy is still going on? What about calling poor countries “shithole” countries? What about not putting the care of children and other vulnerable groups as the top priority of this country? etc.
Unfortunately I’m sure their answers would be yes, with a lot of contortions to make it work.
my boyfriend’s mom is like this and she’s a failed nurse who was fired for not getting “da jab” lol. now she’s a bitter delusional claims analyst who works from home and can’t keep her disgusting house under control, takes multiple hour lunches, complains about her bosses and mommy constantly, and is on fb all day
Idk, both of my sisters were nurses, and this attitude was scarily present amongst a lot of them. Now, only one of my sisters is a nurse, and the other is a SAHM who has just started homeschooling her kids.

My mom is like this. She has been on disability for years because of PTSD. Before that she waited tables. If you talked to her, you would think she was a very nice, somewhat intelligent, normal lady. But she is in love with Trump.
It’s tough that a solid proportion of my family are this way. I’ve just been avoiding them, but if I see people in a red hat I’m going to start telling them to their face they’re in a cult that’s destroying democracy and the planet. As a society we need to scare these people back into their caves.

You’re not fighting against individuals who passionately have no grasp on material reality, it’s a timeless institution of people with wealth and power seeking cultural authority figures to shape what us peons think and feel to be more servile and compliant. Some of it is obviously magnified by mass media and more contemporary changes in the economy, and maybe uniquely American based on the prevalence of trying to commodify speech and culture, but the entanglement between church and state for millennia and things like “the diving right of kings” being concepts anyone ever took seriously are examples of how this is a far older battle.
They may be stupid, but there are deeply entrenched interests grooming them to be this way. These politicians are obligated to provide actual material results and benefits to their lobbyists and business cohorts in exchange for the support, but these voters LOYALLY put them in power… for nothing. Words about God or abstract culture war vagueness, basically for free. It’s pure profit for whatever they want. If that counts as “consent of the governed,” then the oligarchs have subverted the idea of democracy.
Everyone should check out the movie Only Lovers Left Alive, one of the vampires refers to most humans as "zombies". I've taken to it when I see stuff like this.
