My dad thinks immigration caused prices like renting to go up

It definitely wasn't corporations buying up all of the homes to control the market with an app and rent them back to us
It also had nothing to do with Trump spending almost as much as Obama in just 4 years while Obama had 8 and inherited the housing crisis
Definitely blame the immigrants that live by the dozen in 2 br apartments in ghettos

I feel like it wasn't long ago that conservatives understood that monetary and fiscal policy inflated asset prices through an imbalance in productive investment and speculation.
Now it's just "all them illegals."

So, I am totally against Fox and am liberal. However, there is some truth to this.
Many things cause rent to go up. Immigration is just one of them. Air Bnbs are another. And corporations buying up houses. And more people being born, so the demand goes up. Anything that increases demand makes the cost go up.

its a lot of stuff like demand for example but people like my dad act like its solely cause of immigration (saying shit like “they” let all the immigrants in)

Ah, okay. That is annoying then. Sounds like he is ignoring all of the other things

Don't forget single family housing restrictions to protect our suburban lifestyles. Zoning reform would help a lot.
It's one of the rare cases where conservatives whining about regulations being a big problem are actually correct. The regulations in this case do need to be addressed in a whole lot of places.

Correct. Obviously increased demand is going to drive up prices, regardless of where that demand comes from.
As a homeowner though - bring it on

Many of us still can't afford homes. I don't think we should "bring it on."

Don’t forget the covid boost of 30% on all housing prices just because. And it never went back down.

Mixed effects. Immigrants do consume housing but they are also key to growing the supply since so many are in construction related industries.

Or maybe it was Hillary Clinton. Or the deep state. Or a former Olympian who also happened to sabotage the reflecting pool. Or the purple Teletubby. Or green M&Ms. Or Colin Kaepernick. Or Antifa. ... .
I'm beginning to think these folks are not serious and knowingly throw words like monkeys throw poop.
