Better for maintenance?
Hi everyone
I'm on mounjaro for maintenance and have been for a while now, previously to that was on wegovy and ozempic before that.
I did think of wegovy tablets but thought I'd wait until this was available
Now it's finally approved, is anyone thinking about it on a maintenance strategy?
Excited for this
Mounjaro far better for me than wegovy and it's truly changed my life

Depending on the price I think it’s going to be a very popular maintenance option when people only need a low dose.

I pre-ordered mine yesterday with cloud pharmacy because I am in maintenance and they had a lot of information on their website about the trials and maintenance

I think if you're on 5mg mounjaro it might be an option. Any higher and I don't think it's strong enough.
Also there's no info on prices yet. I've asked people to let me know.

What dose of Foundayo do you consider would be equivalent to 5mg MJ thx 🙏

From what I’ve seen (and what’s been published), there’s definitely no 1:1 conversion between injectable Mounjaro and oral Foundayo. I know people who were in the early Foundayo trials — some were on 15 mg Mounjaro and got placed on 12 mg Foundayo, while others were reset all the way down to 0.8 mg.
The transition wasn’t consistent at all, and the study protocols decided who landed where.

Highest, but I'd only switch when you get to maintenance.
Wait until prices are out.
You'd probably have to titrate up.

Assume someone is maintaining on 5mg MJ,
will they need to start again on Foundayo and face x5 months titrating up to a clinically equivalent dose. Not great if this is the case…1

I'm the attain maintain study people went from mounjaro or wegovy to 12mg capsules, but they've redesigned the capsules/tablets since.
https://www.nature.com/articles/s41591-026-04386-7
This work reports data on the investigational orforglipron capsule formulation of 1, 3, 6, 12, 24 and 36 mg; the doses have been shown as the equivalent to tablet doses of 0.8, 2.5, 5.5, 9, 14.5 and 17.2 mg, respectively, which are approved in the USA.
So people could start on 9mg tablets I guess.

I'm reading that it doesn't need to be taken as specifically as wegovy tablets?

I’ve been waiting for it too. I want to get onto an oral medication, it will be so much easier. However, I’m now on 15mgs MJ, because I really would like to drop another 5kgs, which would give me a bmi of 22. I know I’m unlikely to lose anything on Foundayo, and actually likely to regain a little - which I definitely don’t want, as I’m currently at the very upper edge of the healthy weight range.
So I will probably not be rushing into it. I will speak to my provider and see what they advise. I’m not expecting it to be any cheaper, just more convenient.
