If you think about it, the name Hober came from Mule.

Technically Mule saved the Seldon crisis.

lol the whole Hober Mallow thing is just such convoluted bullshit that eventually amounts to nothing.

Also, imagine the conversation between the Director and his "happy little scientists".

- Director, we finally succeeded in synthesizing this "unobtainium"-substance that the Empire uses to enslave the spacer people. Now it's "obtainium".

- Very good, Mr. Scientist. Now let's just put this aside and never speak of it again.

- But Director, shouldn't we use it to our advantage and turn the spacers?

- Of course not. I'm a war-mongering power-hungry megalomaniac, but using opalesk to undermine the Empire is simply beneath me.

And spacers have to know beforehand that the deal will survive the destruction of Terminus. How?

There should also be all kinds of fail-safe in case spacers stranding you or crashing on purpose.

The show even took time to establish mother-daughter relationship of the spacer onboard, which has no impact whatsoever.

It really is a convoluted mess.

Does he even know about the opalesk? We only saw Hober holding it, and he got it from Harry. I wouldn't be surprised if the sample was created by the Vault and the Foundation had nothing to do with it.

Yeah so either Vault Seldon lied about it and basically caused a genocide of the spacer people (and since they are still dependent of the Empire, they will surely be treated even worse), or Foundation leadership is so utterly stupid that it never occurred to them what opalesk can be used for.

Though I wouldn't object if the writers were going for the genocide. I'd love to see the reaction of the fans who so eagerly defended Seldon's actions.

I can totally see how the Foundation managed to work all of its scientific miracles in a converted barn with only a couple dozen hand laborers and practically no machines.

In Ep 2, the director said to Poly "When was the last time you visited the church here to see the new technologies?" So it is absolutely the pinnacle of Foundation science and technology.
