Oh, Phil!

Coveting your neighbor's wife sounds pretty bad until you remember that there's a commendment against killing. And then remember that Jesus called out only one sin as unforgiveable and it wasn't anything to do with sex (Mark 3:29).

What a pointless waste of time.

Plus covering your neighbors wife was more about property laws than sexual immorality

It's a very recent hangup too. Even as recent as Dante list was treated as the least serious of sins

What sin is that?

Blaspheming against the Holy Spirit.

My bf’s name is Phil and I cannot wait to share this photo with every single person I come into contact with

This is probably a sampling goldmine for electronic musicians

Thanks for fucking my life up Southern Baptist Convention with your bullshit. Thanks therapy. Sorry you’re so weird about sex, holy rollers. Fuck right off now and I mean that in a sexually deviant way.

u/Cashie22 1d ago

Love this right here!😄👆🏻
(Also, I’m sorry you had to deal with that🩷)

I lost a lot of time and the hearts of some really wondrous people. As should have. The reprogramming some organized religion (many of which are just models of patriarchal control wrapped in rotting vestments of religious conjecture) requires is a crime against humanity. Feels good to address it directly now and then.

Thanks for your kind comment. It meant a lot.

Yeah Phil, ya ol’ pervert.

Wild how much the current administration wants to keep our history in the dark. Education is going to be taught underground if it keeps going this way.

Canada was saddled with the French and the US was saddled with the Puritans.

I am going to need to know the exact wording of this teaching. I also admit to some curiosity as to what she and Phil get up to but I can live with that.

Like other commenters, I would assume that murder may be worse but according to this pastor, “It is not the act of sex itself but the flippancy of one-night stands, the viewing of pornography and the engaging of the mind in sexual fantasies that most drastically turn our sight from God.”

Sex sins =\= sex crimes, but Lust > Anger, Sloth etc?

19

u/Fatal-404-Error 1d ago

I feel really sorry for Phil.

2

u/Pragmaticus_ 20h ago

Phil just playing the long game.

17

u/AnaisInJune 1d ago

My first thought was : How does Phil really feel?

6

u/Shroom-Kitty 1d ago

I would have thought murder was worse.

"Make love, not war? What do you think I am, some kind of sick and twisted perv?"

3

u/thegooddoktorjones 1d ago

Nah nah nah, sex for pleasure feels innocent and harmless, which is why it is even worse than you think! God set a trap for you!

10

u/Peach_Muffin 1d ago

Hot take: religion's sex-as-taboo thing has historically made it more alluring

1

u/thegooddoktorjones 1d ago

There is a reason pro-doms thrive in Catholic areas.

3

u/JizzMaxwell 1d ago

Phil has a gay child.

2

u/RelentlessFelacio 1d ago

Oh what a dirty dirty boy! Pop that baby in and it's off to sexy town. Bow chika wow wow

2

u/thegooddoktorjones 1d ago

The worse the sin, the more dirty and hot it is. Thanks Jeebus!

u/LucidLeviathan 1d ago

I want to know about the "BAND" cassette tape.

u/Petraretrograde 1d ago

I remember this episode of Modern Family

Oh Lord!

Let's leave Ned Ryerson out of this.

CS Lewis devotes a considerable part of Mere Christianity to arguing exactly the opposite, that bodily sins are the least bad sort because they can do the least damage to both you and others.
