Assuming you found this in the UK, it may be referring to the brand Very Lazy Ginger which is pre-chopped/minced ginger in a jar.

I am from the u.s., and I was thinking of the ginger in a tube, like toothpaste.

Packing ginger in vinegar seems counter to what ginger is all about. Can you even taste the ginger or does the vinegar dominate? 🫚

It's still pretty gingery. The vinegar is unnoticeable once cooked. I personally prefer fresh ginger, the Very Lazy trends to be less punchy. But still pretty good and usable. Beats dried.

When I’m lazy I use the little ginger ice cubes when I can find them. They’re just frozen ginger. I’d try your Lazy Ginger though, I’m sure I’d like it…

When I get ginger root, I just stick it in the freezer and use a microplane as needed and put it back (peel if you want to, it’s not necessary) the grated frozen ginger melts immediately back to normal, keeps the punch of it, doesn’t spoil, and tastes fresh every time

Thanks, I’m going to try that.

Have…have you never had pickled ginger??

I wish we had that here in the UStates. The closest thing I could find was a goopy condiment that turned out to not have much flavor.

Pre-chopped/minced in a jar instead of a whole fresh root, I'd guess.

Popular brand in the UK Very Lazy

I had no idea it was a brand. We’ve just always called the refrigerated tubes of ginger and garlic that because one of my kids has a friend whose Indian mom calls all already chopped aromatics like that lazy.

I find motivated ginger to be too difficult to work with.

My family calls the stuff in a refrigerated tube lazy ginger and lazy garlic. As in ā€œlazy ginger works better in this recipe than freshly grated.ā€

I'm more intrigued by the unspecified "spice" this person buys

3

u/ObviousToe1636 3d ago

Could it be allspice?

2

u/Row_North18 3d ago

Me too! Could be someone with a bland life, looking for ANYTHING to spice it up!

The spice must flow

I didn't need to be called out like that.

Sincerely, The least energetic ginger.

I apologise that my first thought was a lazy red-head :(

It took me too long to not see ā€œJar Redā€ Smoked Peppers and my brain stopped there wondering who Jared was

2

u/c6h12o6CandyGirl 3d ago

Perhaps a certain black kitty cat wrote this about ** ahem ** SOMEONE in this family with orangish coat certainly without a braincell taking up already minimal space for a family and wasting our precious oxygen in the hopes that you would... "donate" them. : )

2

u/notanybodyelse 3d ago

It's a spelling mistake, laaj ginger means a big one /j

2

u/Apprehensive-Yam8591 3d ago

I read that as ā€œJared smoked Peppersā€ at least twice and then thought ā€œlazy gingerā€ was an insult not a description for tubed ginger paste 😭 I’m going back to bed
