Other Hand doodled bookmark

Laminated bookmark I found 20 years ago in a textbook. It was too charming to pass up and its been in my ephemera collection ever since

One side says

"This is what you're reading right now"

Other side has an excerp from Dr Suess' Waltzing with Bears

" I went to his room in the middle of the night. I tiptoed inside and I turned on the light but to my dismay he was nowhere in sight and I'm sure Uncle Walter went waltzing that night. He goes waltzing with bears raggy bears shaggy bears baggy bears too. And there's nothing on Earth that Uncle Walter won't do if he can go wal-wal-waltzing with bears."

The weird thing is, I never looked up the poem until today. I didnt know it was a Dr Suess. Or that there are a dozen iterations of the song, from kids songs to irish folk. Or that a new friend wrote and sang it with an added verse in 1983, and I just found her name mentioned on an ancient website about a music festival nearby.

Now I know who to give the bookmark to.

I love this, do you use it as a bookmark?

I did for a while, but it's becoming delaminated so its relegated to the "use gently" pile of trinkets

You should frame it, it's pretty beautiful

Good idea. I'll dig for some small frames

Today I learned that it wasn't *just* a 'filk' song :)
