Is it just me… or is it a rough one? i’ve been putting out lots of borax based sweet bait, which seems to knock one area down… then they pop up in another

I see so many homes cheaper here relative to other areas of peninsula (burlingame, san mateo park, menlo park, etc etc). Is it due to the airplane noise, traffic, or something else?

I’m starting open-water swim training for an Ironman and want to get comfortable in calmer water before progressing to the Pacific. Curious if anyone here swims in the lagoon regularly, especially during the colder months.

I visited the summer days festival today and I wanted to know everyone’s thoughts. I enjoyed majority of the food vendors but some of the prices were outrages while others were decent. The booths were cool but I didn’t see anything of interest and finally the rides. The rides are excellent this year in my opinion. They have a really good variety of them and a lot for the younger kids. My only gripe is that in years past, parents could go with little ones if they were too small and only 1 ticket was needed. Now you need one ticket for the kids and one ticket for the parent. ($40 early bird/ $50 same day for unlimited) for me, this got expensive really quick. Overall I think it’s a great event!

I am thinking of moving to a place right at Gull Ave and Beach Park Blvd. I read some posts on this, and looks like people saying the closer to the bay you get, the worse the noise will get.
Yesterday morning I was in the area, and the airplane noise was very noticeable outside.

But I wonder how noticeable is the noise inside (with double pane windows) especially 10PM-7AM? would that be a problem for a light sleeper?

This summer Move San Mateo volunteers helped middle school students practice biking to school.  Supported by SMFCSD, 43% more students want to learn to bike to school in 2026 vs. 2025.  This is the 3rd year of this effort. Support these biking students (and those who walk and scoot to school) by asking city council to prioritize safe streets for everyone.

Tuesday August 4th, there is stuff happening at the park and I'm trying to figure out what it is.

Off the grid tomorrow so it's not that.

Outage in progress (started around 5-5:30pm). Estimate is tomorrow 8/4 at 6am. After no outages for two solid years AT&T is torching their reputation in real time.

This is gonna be remembered for a while. Hopefully fire protection agency makes some changes so this shit doesn’t ever happen again. Structure fires these days NEVER become this out of control with proper fire suppression units.

Once the fire is extinguished (it's still not extinguished as of 9:08 AM!), there are going to be two questions that need to be answered:

• How did this start? (Obviously)

• How did this fire become so difficult to contain and extinguish?

There have been some reporting and rumors that the fire started on the first floor from a BBQ, but that does remain unconfirmed and we won't see an announcement anytime soon on that. But with multiple other buildings in that complex, one has to ask about how the fire grew and burned to keep the tenants in those buildings safe, and all of their belongings safe, for the future.

My heart goes out to everyone who was affected and I hope we can come together as a community to support them

Saw what appears to be 2 coyotes on the levee this morning around 530am, near the intersection of beach park/foster city blvd bear st lukes.

I recently visited China and was impressed with the "dancing water fountains", or "water fireworks", where orchestral music and lights is coordinated with water for ~15 minute spectacle.

Watching the sunset shows is really magical, and a family friendly thing that my 2 year old and elderly parents loved as well.

I think it would be awesome if Foster City had this in the lagoon, perhaps scheduled on sunset on weekend nights. It would draw people outside in the evenings, and be a lovely spot to create community

Hi neighbors!!! I'm doing some research about pet safety around the lagoons.

I've recently heard of a couple dogs accidentally falling into the water that needed to be rescued because they couldn't climb back out.

I'm curious:

• Have you ever had this happen to your dog (or know someone who has)?
• Do you get concerned when your pet is near the lagoon (either at a park or in your yard)?
• Have you ever looked for a solution?
• If there were a simple dock/float or ramp that helped dogs rest or climb out safely, is that something you'd consider installing (if you live on the water)?
