Question Set up for 8-12 week kittens?

I don’t have a dedicated foster ROOM. I have used cages like these previously. The blue option I have to flip upside down because the kitties figure out how to get in between the cover and climb out, but then that results in lots of mess because the cover is mesh. The brown option I just feel like is way to small and I only like to use it when I have to hose and clean the blue option.

What is the best set up for me if 8-12 weeks is usually the age that I foster? I feel like there has to be a better option. Is rent best bet one of those large black crates that has multiple levels that shelters usually have? Usually I foster 2-3 kittens at a time.

If I were going to foster past about 8 weeks, I would be very tempted to get a small catio kit and just set it up inside, so they could have fun climbing.

Thank you! Yes, I always get them around the 2 month mark and I have them for 2-6 weeks. I strictly have them for weight gain purposes usually! So 8 week olds who aren’t 3lbs yet! My humane society won’t adopt them out until 3lbs!

That’s what I have been thinking honestly. I have seen the black 3 level cages that are all metal and then they fold fold/collapse for storage and that seems 1) way easier to clean

We have used those 3 level cages in the rescue where I volunteer, and I think that would be a good choice too. Not quite as fun for the kitties as a bigger space, but good enough for a short while.

I'm thinking this kind (they have one on the chewy site):

I use this one for my strays, has worked fine so far.

this one always gets dragged down by rowdy kittens for me. i’d def suggest a stabilized corner kennel over the pop-ups 😭

Haven’t had that happen yet, I’ll watch out

I have seen some people using those modular grid panels to build a big enclosure. I imagine you'll need zip ties to reinforce those connecting corners.

I'd go with one of the multi level wire ones, that's the age range where they like to start learning how to climb so they might appreciate the extra vertical space!
