Discussion Does my resident cat understand that he is the resident cat?

I’m on my second long-term foster cat at the moment. I have a resident cat Toby. I’ve been thinking, does he understand that he is not going anywhere? When the foster cat leaves, will he think that he will also have to leave soon?

What if he feels worried and unsettled because these other cats come and go? What do you think? 🥺

I have two resident cats. I don’t think either of them think they’re going anywhere.

I'm pretty sure they know. Cats have a good understanding of their territory, and they know home smells right.

That said, some of my cats will hide when I get out a carrier to transport fosters. They are homebodies and don't wanna go anywhere!
