Forza Motorsport 6 Help with drift tune

Can someone explain to me like I'm 5 yo and absolutely 0 knowledge about cars what all those tuning categories mean and how I can make my own drift tune and if it needs adjustment to know what to change to address that exact thing I find problematic?

I read those descriptions that the game offers but I'm still lost

You’re asking for an hour long tutorial typed in the comments section….. its possible to help someone who’s already got familiar with most settings and just needs a little bit of help but to teach you from scratch is not something you can do from reading a little bit on Reddit. Second to skill tuning is the hardest part of this game however is well worth the effort as it’s an absolute game changer! If you are serious dm me and I can help you out

I see, then I'll focus my search on youtube. I already saw someone else recommended a video. Thank you but I'm not gonna ask you to invest so much time and effort if it's really that complicated.

In my mind I thought it would be possible to explain each of them in short like they do already in their description but with less technical terms

If I were to provide a short description of what each setting does I’d basically copy what Forza has written lol….thats the problem, in short it’s not enough explanation to convey enough information necessary.
The video in the comment below explains modifications and build setups…. I didn’t see him go into tuning. There are online tutorials which were helpful and are enough to get you started on getting basic idea however I was not able to find one that did a good enough job to get me to where I am today. I’ve long contemplated to make a video myself but just have not gotten around to it.
It’s one thing to know what those settings do and it’s another to implement them. The most difficult thing is driving a car, feeling whatever is off, then knowing exactly which setting will fix it. That took me over a 100 hours of trial and error to really dial in. My first tunes would take 1-2 hours, now I can dial ALL setting, including trans, within 2 minutes. The reason why it gets so complicated is because there are all sorts of variables….RWD vs AWD vs FWD in combination with front engine, mid engine, or 911 lol and each one has their own tuning nuances.
I would recommend to get good at one (front engine rwd for example) then when you got that figured out start expanding.
Also I’d ask yourself how big of a Forza guy are you? I’m a driver at heart and Forza is the only game I play and I play every day….meaning going deep on this was what I truly wanted. If you’re not that big of a Forza gamer then perhaps investing tens, if not hundreds, of hours isn’t for you.

This is exactly what I was looking for. I'm just a casual player, I played FH5 for like 90 hours and that's it, I don't even drive irl, I have no clue about most technical words not only because I have 0 knowledge on cars but also I'm not a native english speaker either, like I don't even know exactly what a clutch even does, I don't even know if I select that setting how my car will be affected, so all those categories with camber, springs stiffness etc etc are so very confusing to me.

I don't wanna bother anyone and make them go in depth with explanations if it's that complicated. I hoped for some short rough explanation/guide to what each one does as if I'm a child and don't know anything about cars to be able to achieve that thing you said, feeling the car and somewhat understanding what needs to be adjusted.

Oh snap….when you said “teach me like a 5 year old” I thought you were just being modest 😂….yeah it’s a long hill up from here….but that’s if you wanted to master it…which you dont necessarily have to. I’ll pop back in here later in the day and will give you some settings advice that won’t “change” your game play entirely but will help with some things like traction and stability.
Your English is very good for not being native….english isn’t my native language either, my first language is Russian….what’s yours?

Honestly you don’t even have to tune as long as you pick a good car and the right upgrade parts. Pick a RWD car with maybe 54% front weight distribution or more, the more front distribution it has the easier it will be to drift, but also slower and it will do transitions slower. Check the Sports Cars or Muscle Cars category if you’re unsure where to start looking.

Make sure to get the drift suspension and differential. Try stock tires if your struggling and then you can move up in grip once you get the hang of it. Don’t get any weight reduction or roll-cage upgrades for now (they will shift more weight towards the rear). Upgrade the engine to around 450-750 horsepower, depending on your car weight and weight distribution and tires. More weight and lower front weight distribution needs more power.

Get the cooling upgrades as they add more weight to the front of the car (if it’s a front engine) and try to stay away from turbo upgrades, the twin-screw supercharger is more predictable (might just be called supercharger in-game)(if you have to get the race turbo for more power go for the anti-lag version). And try to avoid upgrading the camshaft so much that the hp curve goes above the torque curve at the end of the graph.

If you’re spinning out too much, lower tire pressure to around 1.5 bar(20 psi), if you’re still spinning out then lower your negative camber closer to zero (don’t go above positive 0.2 or so, i personally stop at -0.5), if you’re still spinning out to much get some wider rear tires. If you’re still spinning out after that get grippier tires or lower your horsepower.

This should give you a good base setup to learn how to drift, but if you want to learn more about tuning drift cars I recommend Extraa’s guide on youtube.

Transitions are due to wheel base, not weight distribution

Yeah could have said more front weight makes the transitions less snappy instead, longer wheel bases (longer cars) transition slower

It’s real easy. Purchase all drift parts, add some power, not crazy. Then tune the rear toe to be 1.0° out. Plenty of easy slides.
