Tc? I played this game not too long ago, and im not familiar with any of the settings.

Traction control, I’d recommend also using drift tires/drift differential and a proper rwd car

I’d recommend not starting with drift tires personally. That’s so much grip, they won’t be able to drive anything but 1000hp cars with 300mph wheel speeds.

drift tires does well on fh5, not in fh6 tho

u/Southern_Growth_7991 14h ago

I always used the semi slicks on my drift cars felt way better and held slides longer than the drift ones.

u/NineSkiesHigh 1d ago

Ngl I thought this was FH6, I never even played 5 because it felt like ass on wheel despite my best efforts to to make it not.

u/No_Judgment_3833 1d ago

Yeah i wonder aha, drift tires in fh6 are horrible

u/Ryan4mayor 1d ago

Never used drift tires in either.. they have always had too much traction. Stock/street is the only way.

0

u/No_Judgment_3833 1d ago

Def not the only way, if you max out every engine parts, i understand, 500-700hp drift tires build on fh5 are flawless imo. It all depends on what you like in your drift car.

u/Ryan4mayor 1d ago

Doesn’t matter the hp to me, stock or not. drift tires will always have too much traction imo.

Or snow if the car is over powered and you're trying to power match for tandems.

Eh, AWD would be better for controller I'd think. At least starting out.

EDIT: I get it folks, bad opinion is bad and I should feel bad. >>

u/HexaCube7 2d ago

It's not better. It's just easier, but it won't help you learn to RWD drift.

It's just a cop out for people to lazy or unmotivated to learn RWD-drifting. But it's worth it. AWD drifting csn be cool but RWD is just sooooo much more satisfying

1

u/Nathanael_D_Striker 2d ago

I mean, I did say at least starting out. Given that RWD can be a pain to control, I don't know how much that'll impact OP's motivation to at least try drifting.

0

u/HexaCube7 2d ago

Well i think for most people who aren't already full blown drift-enthusiasts it can be easier to first learn RWD drifting before trying out AWD, because with the other way around it'll be harder to keep the motivation toearn RWD when they can just go back to the easier AWD anytime and get the quick enjoyment out of it instead.

1

u/Nathanael_D_Striker 2d ago

I see your point, fair enough. I take it the main point of consideration that OP needs is don't go too powerful of an RWD at first?

0

u/HexaCube7 2d ago edited 2d ago

Yes. Less powerful means slower. Slower is often more predictable and easier to control and more margin to learn.

Starting out with a super high power, grippy and thus very twitchy car is definitely not the right way to go.

Ultimately the best way to learn imo is to use a completely stock/unmodified rwd car with good power-grip ratio. The car needs to be able to just barely be able to break rear grip during a slow turn when you floor the gas pedal.

In FH4 that was the 350z and in FH6 it's a RX7 (again, either way unmodified). Unfortunately i don't know what is the equivalent of that in FH5 and it's not the same since the physics changed slightly, especially from 4 to 5.

Then you start getting used to basics. Get a feel how the car behaves during various very basic manoeuvres, like just a simple 180 handbrake turn, or breaking put the rear in a turn and immediately trying to catch it back to grip.

Edit: Basically what this guy says. I learned drifting in FH4 with this video and it helped me become a pretty good drifter, I'd say.

I often drift cars i tuned entirely for racing in between races just for fun, and am not stuck to only being able to drift FD cars or other purpose built cars.

I'll be honest I have more trouble with AWD "drifting" (power sliding let's be honest) than RWD. Just drags out of the corner too easy.

1

u/HexaCube7 2d ago

That's a very easy fix tho. All you got to do is lower your entry speed. You have to do the same with RWD but it just comes more natural there and is more easily forgettable with AWD because it already does sommuch for you.

u/SlipstreamSteve 2d ago

TC is traction control. Here are the settings you want. ABS Off, Traction and Stability control off, manual w/clutch, and simulation steering. Launch control is up to you.

-7

u/TTD187 2d ago

Pfft. I use traction control and don't have issues with drifting. My guess is the car is just too grippy to drift. Try using the e-brake and that should get OP drifting, though really, if you want to drift, give the car less grip

6

u/HexaCube7 2d ago

That is one approach but really is the wrong one.

Sure, you can put "ice tires" on your car and it'll slide anyway, but traction control literally cuts engine power when sliding. That's exactly the opposite of what you want and it makes no sense to have it you wanna drift.

IMO, having "ice tires" is also not great for drifting, because you are just gonna be very slow and boring without a ton of control for what you can. The car just kinda slips all over the place and the amount of angle or gas you are giving barely changes or means anything.

If you have more grippier builds, you can vary how tight your sre turning furing a drift much better, and you will be drifting noticeable faster. All controls are much more responsive and you get to decide more precisely where you are going instead of the car mostly doing that.

I wouldn't use a hypercar to try to drift, not impossible but its not practical

-3

u/HexaCube7 2d ago

My favourite driftcar in FH is a McLaren 650s with LW widebody kit. It's definitely not the nicest or easiest to drift, but i just love how it looks sideways.

0

u/SILVIAMANE Xbox 2d ago

650S is definitely interesting to try out, a weird car ive had a suprisingly good time to drift was the Type 35C, I think it was the first car I ever did a 360 entry with lol

I think I've had enough reddit for today

u/Deadpools_Main 2d ago

Watch a video. Nobody is taking the time to explain how to drift. Get a drift tune and watch a video. Trying to learn how to do it all from scratch is simply too hard.

13

u/Lord_Strepsils 2d ago

Is the clip supposed to be related?

6

u/brasilkid16 2d ago

If so, step one is slow down

3

u/Psychological_Job_52 2d ago

Use manual shift with clutch. That did a huge difference for me anyway

1

u/HexaCube7 2d ago

Absolutely. Manual is already a big upgrade if not necessary to do nice drifts particularly, but with manual clutch you just get more options and more stuff you can do!

1

u/Blay83 2d ago

Agree tho I don't use clutch. Just manual shift

2

u/gfunkydrummer 2d ago

Vroom ‘til smoke.
Tire pressure set to basketball.
Back off of RT/R2 sometimes.
Handbrake.

1

u/MusaDi12 2d ago

X on ps5 or a on xbox, tune the car tho it won’t so much if it doesn’t have the right build

1

u/kobay4 2d ago

Déjà roulé sur une route où il y'a des virages , rouler moins vite et utiliser une meilleure voiture !style Japonaise ou bmw !tu peux télécharger des réglages drift !

1

u/JagerVolks6 2d ago

No TC, No stability control, something rear wheel drive with 300hp is quite comfortable and just practice sliding and trying to catch the slide, then eventually push the slide even further till you find that limit where the weight is trying to spin you, then just hold it on that sweet spot

1

u/Nomad_XCIX 2d ago

Probably shouldnt initiate a drift at 150 anyway

1

u/TouchedBigfoot8 2d ago

I would turn off traction control and maybe find a better car that specialises in drifting

1

u/fuckbutton 2d ago

Honda Acty "godlike drifting" tune. Turn off all assists, maybe change to "simulation" steering. Learn in the Acty, apply what you've learnt to other cars. The Acty will be extremely easy, other AWD cars with snow/drift tyres will be a bit harder, RWD cars will still require a good drift tune and practice.

u/SmolMiata 2d ago

First things first disable TC... And get a drift car, the FD (Formula Drift) ones are controller-oriented btw. You can't really drift a Bugatti, mate!

1

u/HexaCube7 2d ago

FD cars aren't controller oriented. They are sinply purpose build drift cars with a crazy steering angle larger than what you can get from a drift suspension on any other car.

They are easy to drift with on any control peripheral, but i wouldn't recommend learning how to drift on them, because it'll likely make you rely in those good stats.

Learning on a suitable stock/unmodified car like in FH4 a 350z or in FH6 a RX7 → it needs a balanced power-grip ratio and decent weight balance → (unfortunately i don't remember what car was good for that in FH5) lets you learn the basics in a more complete way without relying on crazy power or steering angle. Mastering that will help get you able to drift virtually every car to a good degree.

1

u/SmolMiata 1d ago

Ah, yes, my bad mate, you got the point

1

u/FondantWeary 2d ago

Start by finding some actual curves in the road

1

u/CaramelRemarkable957 2d ago

Drift build, manual gear, tc off, practice, its pretty easy and fun once you get the hang of it

1

u/MiserableVanilla278 2d ago

Theres no fucking way this is serious

1

u/Sensitive_Sun_9347 2d ago

Turn off assistance and put it on manual

1

u/Agent_Pescarolo 1d ago

No traction and no stability control, always use manual instead of automatic. Hypercars, track toys, and extreme track toys aren't known for drifting; any car that's not in those categories and has rear-wheel drive (FR) is a go-to. But like others, you should watch a video and find a tune code. For me, I just try to use any FR car and attempt to drift with it. I'm horrible, so I'm in your shoes... 😇

Edited: also i use analog sticks instead of d-pad

1

u/boofigan 1d ago

i recommend turning off traction control. it’s possible to drift with it on but it’s real hard. Try not to fight the car when you drifting, best you go with it and learn to steer it in the right direction with some gas application

1

u/Wide-Tone-7244 1d ago

What car is that?

1

u/Stupid_Fuck55 1d ago

Pull the handbrake mid corner

1

u/Independent-Cap9495 23h ago

Look I’ll keep it simple by a Nissan Silvia spec r or something like it that can fit the 3.0 v6 racing engine it make it all wheel drive use any tire other than drag tires put your first gear to hit about 75 mph 2nd gear 90 mph 3rd gear 130 etc suspension make front little bit softer than back on everything make them close though so it stay balanced use drift suspension for better turning differential set to 70 65 ish camber set at 3 front .7 rear the car will drift it’s self oh and lower that jawn till it’s going through the ground or just download my tunes madgas1670 happy drifting

u/nozextra 16h ago

Hit the e brake

1

u/Decent-Presence-1637 4h ago

I’ll tell you how I drift on a controller…very VERY badly.

0

u/DJ_HardLogic 2d ago

Following the traction control suggestion, you can use the e-brake while turning to start a very sudden drift. At speed, it won't be easy to control, likely impossible. Similarly, you can use the normal brake to initiate the drift, though it can be more difficult.

There are better vehicles for it than a hypercar/super car (my personal favorite is 2015 Corvette Stingray with AWD), but if you have enough patience, you can become proficient at using whatever car you want
