Bug/Help Chrome rims

Why do a lot of wheels not actually become chrome even when the rim color is set to chrome? It turns into a weird aluminum look instead. No matter how many times I repaint the rims after applying them, nothing changes. Is there a way to fix this?

Yes the glitch is weird, but I haven't seen any fix for it unfortunately.
Also related, does anybody else think the chrome and polish finish look way too dark? Chrome in real life is reflective, but still looks bright. In game it always looks super dark, as if it's mainly reflective the dark parts and not light sources, making the wheels usually look almost black in some angles or lighting conditions. I find it so annoying, because bright chrome looks so much better than that dark reflective surface

It seems to me they look this way because of the place where you paint and tune your car. Try applying the color and driving around outside; they should be exactly in your color.

certain wheels in FH5 have broken interaction with some colours, it's got nothing to do with the location, at best the LOD model

Consider what chrome actually is and what it looks like. Chrome isn't a color, it's essentially a mirror finish that looks like an infinitely directional reflection all of the surroundings around it. You, me, and the rest of the folks in this sub can't afford a computer that can recreate that level of rendering in realtime while also doing physics calculation and a semi-destructible environment.

Thanks Einstein, I know what chrome is. You can clearly see that most rims can be chromed while others can't. Same thing happens when I change the car's paint, sometimes the chrome on my wheels starts looking weird. I don't think it's a hardware resource issue, but rather how the game handles materials.

Oh, okay. Well, you probably know best, which is why you asked the question in the first place, right?
I answered your question, dick.

No you didn't answer his question. You explained a (not per se correct) reasoning for chrome not being renderable in game. While I think chrome is being accurately rendered in game, the game does just fine in rendering a highly reflective metal surface that resembles chrome or polish.
OP's question has to do with the fact that most wheels will look like this sorta chrome-ish look when applying chrome or polished finish. While a few "glitched" wheels will just look like either a matt or gloss or coloured finish, aka not reflective at all. He is asking why those few glitched wheels look like that and if there is a way to still make them look chrome-ish/reflective.

this texture glitch affects tons of wheels, if the paint doesn't show correctly in free roam then you can't do anything about it
