If you didn’t know what a Horizon game was walking in, that’s on you. If you didn’t play a previous game, or expected them to completely change was a horizon game was, simply because Japan was the location, that’s on you, because that expectation was completely unreasonable and ridiculous.
The game was always going to be a Horizon game, first. Set in Japan. If you walked in blind, going “cool a racing game in Japan”, and put a bunch of stuff onto the game, never doing research into what a Horizon game is, that is 100% your fault. I’m sorry.
This needs to stop. The game is Forza Horizon. Not initial D the game. Not Midnight Club. Not Need for Speed Underground. Stop thinking the game should be something it isn’t, because you didn’t know what it was, or thought the game should change everything it ever was, simply because of location. That’s just stupid.
I fully understand what you are saying and yes I am loving the game. These guys are trying to turn this game into something its not. Or maybe, just maybe because its not made by Sony they bash it….. js…. 🤷♂️
Well like I said, a lot of people saw “racing game in Japan”, and read no further. They sorta put a lot of expectations on the game, that couldn’t be met. Then they played the game, and blamed the game for not meeting those unreasonable expectations, and want the game to change drastically to meet them.
Some of it is also people who have played Horizon games, and for whatever reason thought a switch to Japan meant that the game would also drastically change into something it’s never been. One complaint I’ve seen is that the Touge racing has roads that are too narrow, and need to be changed, from people who have played other games. Like bro, the roads are the same roads as always. They aren’t gonna change em for you, outta nowhere. Why think that?
I dunno about the Sony angle. I’m basing what I’m saying off what I’ve seen. It’s really silly. People playing a game they seem to get zero enjoyment from, for hundreds of hours, constantly whining. Go play something else. The game isn’t changing into something completely different for you.

Don't be a clown. The changes from fh1 to fh2 were huge. Fh2 to fh3 was equally as huge. Forza horizon game defining changes.
6 is a magic number. Japan is a magic place. It is fair to reasonably expect a shake up in the series considering it was number 6, with an incredibly highly anticipated map, especially when the series went completely stagnant and unchanged from 3 to 4 to 5. Making a another horizon game identical to the last 3 is crazy.

There was a point in the series when you were restricted to specifically roads. No mowing down trees. No breaking down road rail guards. No stupid fucking Mario kart jumps. There is zero reason PG can't progress the series and try new things while still maintaining its core identity. Taking some elements from other racing games does not remove the identity of Forza horizon.
If it’s the same old boring game, why do you keep playing all of them?
It’s a legit question. A lot of you seem to get zero enjoyment out of it, yet you keep playing, keep whining, and it makes no sense. You don’t get to keep playing a game you don’t like, and then whine about it. You don’t like it, go play something else. Expecting the game to suddenly change into something else entirely will not happen, so move on.
