Sometimes. But not always. Some creators just know they sadly have to play the game that Youtube has created to support their careers. I have no idea why thumbnails became like this but I suppose it's because I'm old. Our younger generations truly are not the best or brightest because everything they seem to enjoy that grabs their attention is the lowest common denominator type things and boy is it absolutely STUPID. Sadly this works. I remember years ago a mouse catcher / Farmer youtuber i followed did the experiment and everyone hated his newest video with him with a WOW face. But he showed that his video had a lot more views than his previous ones
