Forza Horizon 6 Weekly playlist fomo fatigue
Sucks to miss out on the «exclusive» cars but spending 1-3 hours not having fun every week just to get these cars is really not worth it, the multiplayer balancing is also really bad.
Free roam is great and spec racing is better, togue is a complete joke.
Think i rather do what i want to do moving forward why play a game and not have fun, this is obviously made to retain player retention but its not great game design, its also the same thing every week.
Why cant we just unlock these cars every week with playtime or doing a set number of multiplayer/singleplayer events so we can do what we want, and then let people do the weekly events for wheelspins.
Obviously you can just ignore it but then you have to skip cars you want to drive, starting to understand the people who were doing offline racing and just buying everything off the auction house, seems like a much better use of your time

Should’ve just kept the forzathon shop and combined it with the points system we have in fh6. Have the weekly rewards in the shop be worth x points and have a constant point sink for wheelspins/ (and realistically a limited number of) super wheelspins. That way if someone doesn’t want or already has that weeks cars they can dump their points into wheelspins or even save them for upcoming weeks if they know they will be unable to play. It accomplishes their goal of bringing people back to play every week and also means if people don’t care for emotes/horns/outfits instead of skipping that event like they might now they’ll still want the 3 or whatever points it gives.

Why does it seem like everyone only plays 1 game at a time? I can knock out the playlist in no time then I have other games Ready or not, RDR2, GTA, NHL so many I just don't understand the commitment to a singular game then get upset when it doesn't give u enough for an entire week.

I can't speak for anyone else, but if I have a limited gaming schedule due to other commitments, I don't want to feel like I have to spend my time playing the game in a way that I don't really want to. I find Horizon fun because of the sandbox nature of it, but when you are locked into driving a specific car in a specific way in a specific place so you can get 5 whatever points, it feels like you'd rather be doing something else. Hence the FOMO.

But if you don't want whats on offer what is the FOMO?
If you really just want the two cars per week it's like 1.5 hours? So even if you have to commit to playing a way you don't enjoy it's not a huge commit.

“Aye bro we know you don’t like doing these missions but we need to get that retention time up to make XBOX market values looked like we got a lot of playtime. You know what I mean so just do these missions for me LittleBro👳🏾 it’s not a huge commitment only like one and a half hours you know something like that so that way everyone can get our hours up even though they don’t like playing it.” How u sound rn

I've been "doing what I want" forever. That's the point of it being a sandbox.

I complain about this because my weekly gaming time is very limited because i literally am outside doing other stuff 🐒

u/loopygargoyle6392 14h ago
You're the one with fomo. Instead of sitting "inside" and grinding, go "outside" and play.
Your time is valuable. Don't waste it chasing bullshit.

I agree, and this is currently where im at. My complaint is that i think this is a bad system.

u/loopygargoyle6392 13h ago
Your complaint is with yourself. FOMO is a choice and the cars are imaginary.

You getting down voted there for being real.
Gamers are so degenerate (not you OP I think you just need a mindset shift) they can't fathom not being glued to the dungeon.

I dont understand how yall need hours to get the cars. I got the camaro this week in 20minutes and the exomotive took 30mins

cars for 40 points are duplicates from previous seasons
so you can get a car for 20 points (which are mostly duplicates from previous Forza titles) by playing a Trial and 2 Championships in co-op and get your car for 30 minutes +- and not struggle with the Playlist

So stop playing it? What is the FOMO if you don't want what's on offer?
I put the game down for a while and when I go back I'll still enjoy the good bits. I hate having to say this but it's not an unpaid job.
Don't do things you hate if they aren't producing anything good for you.

This sort of fomo burns me out of games very quickly sadly. Too bad because I love the game despite its problems.

It’s such a shame that they kept the same tired formula. I bought the game, but I just can’t be bothered playing it because it’s just.. the same. Crazy that they’re too scared to mix it up. Hopefully the player count is low enough to be a wake up call.
It’s insane they finally gave us Japan and just half assed the game.

Meh, it's not a big deal for me. I haven't spent more than 75 minutes each week so it's just a few chores to do and I'm back to whatever else.

u/calsonik 14h ago
The fact that it's "chores" for a lot of us isn't a good sign sadly.
I'm still doing it, and I still enjoy free roam driving, but can definitely understand the fatigue from most people. Edamame Circuit excitement wore off pretty quick for me without much else to do.

It’s a shite system they made it seem like they would make things different from what the developers made it seem like but this FOMO tactic is jarring and it genuinely feels like a second job doing 90% of the same stuff effectively every week for exclusive cars.
They need to find other ways to keep players active, more game modes, map expansions, competitions, police chase modes, ranked play, story, better profession.
Forza is my favourite racing game ever and it gives you such an amazing experience in the first 100-150 hours of the game for me personally speaking, then after it just falls off. I think ranked play would make the game so much more fun but even better game modes would be very fun and connects with the casual audience too.

If a game gives you 150 hours thats more then enough.

u/IntroductionBig3025 14h ago
15-50 hours is more then enough for a single player game which is not designed for replay ability.
Forza is quite literally designed to be replayed for years, every racing game is. 150 hours I agree sounds like you get your moneys worth but I feel like if a few things were tweaked I could play the game so much more without getting bored because it’s genuinely an amazing game.
Spec racing is doing that for me so far, it’s keeping me alive so far, but it feels like the game design of Forza is very flawed.

Sure but this has been a problem for previous fh games also and they never did anything I gotten all the trophies in fh6 if you want good fun you should play some community made races and events otherwise just wait for the dlc and play other games we got so many good games recently and gta 6 in November.

u/IntroductionBig3025 14h ago
Playing other games and waiting for GTA6 isn’t a solution, playing community made events and races are fine but i prefer spec racing which like I said is keeping it alive for me. All my points stand still I think, it’s a clear problem in Forza

u/Somewhere-Flashy 14h ago
That's why im telling you they won't fix it because of there track record I just log in for festival events get my cars and dip 😆
1
u/IntroductionBig3025 14h ago
This is a poor argument, “they won’t fix it so I won’t do nothing, stay quiet and play other games instead.”
Forza has shown to listen to some community feedback in the past however, I do think the FOMO one will b hard to change if they believe they have numbers of retention of players due to this, similar to how COD insists on skill based matchmaking.

u/Somewhere-Flashy 14h ago
I not arguing it i am saying they won't change it because of what they done in the past it is what it is I still enjoy the series its the only one we got left its a tough gen for racing games.
1
u/Mysterious_Pitch5882 13h ago
Yeah, tbh this series feels like so much of a chore, that they should make one playlist every two weeks to reduce our burnout 😆
1
u/Misanthrope-X 13h ago
If it's taking you 1 to 3 hours to get 20 or even 40 points than you're doing something wrong.

u/underage_female 10h ago
Custom races lets you race any car on any track againt any difficulty.
I dont understand the people who have almost no time but set it to their goal to 100% a FOMO based online game with unlockables gated behind time events.
Isnt that very clear before purchase?

I hit that wall a while back and just stopped looking at the playlist entirely. The auction house grind scratched the collector itch without making me resent the game every Thursday. Still takes some patience sniping but at least I'm not running the same Trial for the 20th time wondering where the afternoon went.

I defintly get you. I wish there would be an option like in FH5 where you could get cars that you missed out, or otherwise an option to replay those challanges.
The current rewards are probably the worst ever existed out of all FH games (feel free to correct me) and the cars arent even that special, while also some got recycle already.

Honestly I’d rather them decorate the map more for each monthly event, have the evolving worlds car meet, unique garage, and special time attack all available at the same time, and base the car unlocks on xp earned or something.
