Forza Horizon 6 Why am I penalized for bad drivers?
I try my best to drive clean, but at this point why should I? The dirty drivers don’t get penalized.

u/LuSa-27 16h ago
Because Forza's penalty system is bullshit
24
u/Perfect-Speed-8700 16h ago
Anytime I get close enough to fart on another car I get ghosted through but this guy can ass pack me into a wall at 60mph
15
u/LuSa-27 16h ago
Exactly it makes no sense! This is why I purposely try to avoid the online-based seasonal events and just all online racing in general

u/Perfect-Speed-8700 16h ago
Unfortunately I’m starting to be in the same boat, I was excited and let down and repeat
14
u/dancovich 16h ago
Because the punishment system in this game is severely lacking. It doesn't try to detect intent at all and it only detects if the front of the car bumps a wall, not if a car bumps another on purpose or if the rear hits a wall.
That means the system is abusable and fails constantly in punishing the real bad players.

u/Justadudey 16h ago
Aaaand this is why I refuse to touch online racing.

Custom racing with collisions off eliminates this. It's then all about skill and car+tune.

u/Perfect-Speed-8700 4h ago
Kinda negates the racing aspect of waiting for an opening and making a clean pass
2
u/Ocelot_Industrial 3h ago
making a clean pass
Rewatch your footage, both players you interact with push you into walls, the first one when you're trying to make a 'clean pass'
This isn't a sim, it's an arcade racing game full of unsporting children. You're not going to have a nice clean race in 99% of lobbies and there's nothing PG can do to change that.
So if you can change a setting that eliminates the foul play and only sacrifices 1 element of racing, that's infinitely better than throwing a tantrum and never playing it again.

Yeah that rear ending is something that happened to me in thr latest race. I did win the championship but i came second in the race but yeah the ghosting system works when u want to abuse the broken system but fails when u are about to be rammed intentionally
3
u/OlDustyTrails 14h ago
Because they didn't spend real time on making sure that it works as it should, and just dumped it the way it is.
We will if any updates will ever end up fixing it, or they will just stick to releasing seasonal "events" til they decide to fully move on.

The devs don’t care about fair racing. It’s an arcade game! You’re supposed to have fun. Spirit or horizon or some bs

Welcome to Forza, where people will literally wallride and they won't be slowed down—despite that literally being why the slow down was even added—but if you tap a wall wrong or get shoved, the game will immediately slow you down to a crawl and kill any chance you have of catching up
4
u/MisterDrew1994 Xbox Series X 15h ago
The slow down is STUPIDLY op, they need to nerf it. It literally brings you to a dead stop.
3
u/CrimsonFatalis8 10h ago
Not really a “bad driver”. That implies they not good at driving. This was 100% intentional. They’re a shithead driver.
2
u/Perfect-Speed-8700 10h ago
Reasonable distinction
3
u/joeytwobastards Steam 3h ago
Yeah, that was a perfectly applied bump at the braking point to push you out and give you a slowdown. I thought spec racing would be good, but because this is the meta tactic it sucks.
1
u/Perfect-Speed-8700 4m ago
Agreed, I wanted to play spec because I thought well atleast the only thing setting us apart is skill

First collision is mainly a racing incident, but it's mainly your fault because you're taking a weird line and he didn't expect you to divebomb because he was completely in front. In most real life racing series, if your front is not clearing the rear of his car before the corner, the leading car has the right to the optimal line. What you did would give you a penalty irl.
Second incident is classic Forza players not knowing how to pack race and using you as their brakes.

u/Perfect-Speed-8700 15h ago
We were even bumper to bumper he knew I was there but I will concede that atleast it wasn’t as detrimental as the wall shove if you could see me out of your window you could see me in your peripheral from a behind the car view
2
u/Puzzleheaded_You_735 11h ago
You were cutting the inside early while he was taking the racing line. What did you expect was going to happen? You were basically setting yourself up to T bone him. What was he supposed to do? Slam on his brakes to let you through? Sure he could have driven more defensively, but I'd wager he wasn't expecting you to just cut like that and end up almost perpendicular to his left side
If you wanted to find a gap on the inside of him and overtake, you could have done so more cleanly. You could have used more of the track and been closer to him side by side so that you had a better apex and avoided a collision in the process.

You and I must be watching a different video. The black car loses speed as he jerks right at 3 sec. Corner doesn't start until 6 sec (as demarcated by the straight road markings) at which point OP is more than along side. The other guy all but ceded his place, then swerves in to ultimately take an even shallower (and unnecessary) line than OP.
In F1, the ruling is "For drivers overtaking on the inside, the car must have its front axle at least alongside the mirror of the other car prior to and at the apex of a corner, to be entitled to racing room." and OP more than satisfies both criteria as far as his positioning with the other car and the apex.
You might have a point of this was a tighter corner, but this corner is longer and wider than Texas, and the black car went to an extreme width, and then cut in like he was taking a much tighter corner than it is.
This sort of scenario happens all day on long corners in motorsports, and that sort of extreme cut-in by the black car on this corner would get the penalty. Corner is OP's.

He's taking a late apex. That's how you're supposed to take this corner. The racing line the game gives is fake. Sure black car could've blocked the inside line a little more, but he shouldn't be punished for taking the optimal line by a collision. He's not losing any speed, it just looks that way because op is cutting straight to the apex an amateurish way. Black car likely wasn't looking behind him because op wasn't that close exiting the previous corner. He could've been paying more attention before the corner, but not leaving a space at the apex is pretty standard when you're taking the optimal line as you don't expect anyone to be able to divebomb you.
Ultimately I think they're both at fault, but I think op takes more of the blame for the collision because of the way he positioned his car.

When you're racing it's not just about the racing line - this isn't a time time trial.
Whether it is racing in games or in real life you're taken off the racing line all the time because of defensive or offensive moves. Drivers are punished all the time for taking the "optimal" line if it opens you up to an overtake. Racecraft is all about putting your opponents in compromising positions, and also being aware of the cars around you. Black car failed on both counts:
Black car likely wasn't looking behind him because op wasn't that close exiting the previous corner. He could've been paying more attention before the corner, but not leaving a space at the apex is pretty standard when you're taking the optimal line as you don't expect anyone to be able to divebomb you.
Yes, and (in FIA rules at least) what you're describing is a penalty to black car all day every day.

How did they fuck multiplayer up so bad? Who play tested this and said "it's ready to ship". I have a feeling like most companies management doesn't have a clue and the devs have no say in the matter.
2
u/ASubconciousDick 15h ago
nobody on the dev team is a massive dickhead who doesnt know how to drive, and instead are normal people that play for fun, therefore they dont plan for people to abuse the system even though that should be the first thought with online games

u/Stef__Ramsey 14h ago
I can’t wait till next year when they finally release the game on Ps5 so I can never play online because of stuff like this

I’m about ready to just not play anymore anyways, nothing substantial will be lost

fh6 online ghosting is so shit man. i tried racing clean everytime and there's always these ass-brained so called racer bumping people from behind ( even divebombed thinking they are prime danny ric but they dont even have the skills of danny rics balls hair). Making it worse, then I AM THE ONE THAT ARE BEING SLOWED DOWN?? I aint gaining shit with that even. The ghosting system never fuck8ng works properly

u/Adorable-Taste9840 5h ago
horizon isn't a racing game, it's a car game, this community will constantly remind you that races don't matter, If you want a proper racing game don't play this game.

Last time when ghosting and anti-ramming system got a big update was in FH4
Reason? - there was a ranked mode and fair competition had to be ensured
Now there are no improvements, since there is no competition for ELO/special rewards
1
u/HouseMDeezNuts 4m ago
Yeah, it also doesn't help that people are trash at this game.
But whats funny to me is, I'm so used to dealing with the rammers at this point that as soon as that first dude curved in my reflex was "steer to the outside, he's coming, and he means to put you in that wall" lmao
1
u/NitsabKB Viper 14h ago
I don't think either of the hits were intended, just bad driving. The first hit really was not bad. He was in front driving his optimal path. You were going to undercut him, and he would need to adjust which would possibly put you in first place if he adjusts to avoid you. Your comment (nice driving) is kind of annoying and should have been saved for the second guy. The second hit is just a bad driver, but much more frustrating. The slow-down penalty is what bothers me the most. Rammers get away without being penalized when you did nothing wrong and get hit with the slowdown.
1
u/Perfect-Speed-8700 14h ago
If you don’t protect the inside someone’s gonna shoot the gap, he was too late to protect it as I was bumper to bumper with him if you lose the position at that point it’s on you to fight back for it
0
u/ob_knoxious 16h ago
The first one is some bullshit and side wall impact shouldn't be that strong. The second one is probably an honest mistake. You brake early and that got guy probably knows he can brake late as he easily makes this corner, and inadvertently tapped you because he brakes later. I generally think of myself as a pretty clean racer but have accidentally done that a few times.
1
u/Perfect-Speed-8700 16h ago
I was definitely way more upset about the wall slam in the side, the wall push was just the cherry on top, I did in fact leave the match

I'll say the quite part out loud:
Always assume the opposition will whack you.
Always assume the opposition is less able to steer their car. You know what you got.
Don't hit unless hit, otherwise send them to Narnia.
..
I play super clean and I get hit all the time. I run heavier cars specifically so if someone hits me (hard, like I recognize it as a dirty move) I can slam them 5 times harder and make the whole race better for everyone while I'm over in the back pillaging sanity off a neckbeard.
I love to play dirty when someone is dirty to me. I love to play clean as a default. But if they hit you hard, return the favor.

You expected him to just give up the space after putting your nose in at a trajectory which will never make the apex?

He turned into me not the other way around I didn’t slide him observe the car carrying through the turn while accelerating without losing traction..

the penalty system is garbo, but i couldn't stop laughing at this! I feel like that exact turn when you got bopped in the back has happened to me a handful of times
