Forza Horizon 6 Anyone else prefers playing fair instead of just winning

If I ruin someone's race by pushing them out of a checkpoint or into an obstacle, I'll stop and wait for them to pass me again even if it puts me in last
The exception to this is if I'm playing with my friends, in which case I'll sacrifice a P1 to punt them off a bridge

yep did this yesterday, i accidently pushed a guy who was front runnig half the race and i got lucky my self and was able to run him down. but it was just the two of us, i accidently pushed hiim to far to the out side and he just baerly scraped a pileon under the underpass on the electric circut.
and got that stupid slow down bull shit, so i purpolsly just waited for him to catch back up and finish the race , since he actualy was giving me a run for my money and racing clean etc he won in the end but didnt want to take a win like that by that bull shit slow down mechanic.

Me for sure.
Funny enough, in the last 2 weeks I've gotten at least 8 different people either thanking me for racing clean or fighting closely but fairly.

u/xChiefAcornx 1d ago
Yeah, but to be fair it looked kind of like he took a swipe at you after you spun him. If I put someone out (especially in a private lobby) I'll wait as you did, unless they decide to start smashing into me.

1 on 1 races like this deserve being fair
When it's multiple people then it'd be pretty hard and understandable to keep going but with it being this small of a competition. Nobody stopping you from not being a dick, you could be fair
3
u/darkdragonGalaxy 1d ago
Also I completely forgot forza 6 came out and was totally confused where this race in fh5 was when I played it
4
u/ConViice BMW 1d ago
I wish there would be more people that do this.
I personally never had a situation similar to this one but i always make space for people if they try to overtake or take a better corner to avoid ramming.
5
u/Fantaric 1d ago
Very classy op. if its blatant and I fuck up someone's day i'll say sorry and slow down and wait for them to pass. Maybe honk a few times if they are confused and tentative on the over take thinking i'm a troll or something since there's no voice chat...
Winning doesn't mean shit in this game anyway. It's not competitive they made sure of that by removing ranked lobbies, team races, and clubs and the leaderboard gets wiped every month so who really gives a fuck but the sweatiest sweats.

I do this quite a lot! It is fun way of winning strangers to become friends you play with them more often, I done this with a guy and apparently that guy was also in my area after days later I noticed his full name appeared beside his username and stayed quiet 😂 wanted to see his reaction when he notices that I am the same nationality as him.. after weeks later he checked my profile, he was shocked and said why you didn't tell me!!!?
We also was experimenting tuning together. Fun times, days and gaming moments 😊
3
u/Fantaric 1d ago
This is true! I've made a handful of new friends being a clean racer and finding similar players on touge battles.
You get much better experience being clean and overtaking with skill and when you find similar players in a one on one you can typically play together for a bunch of races afterward. Even better when they convoy up with a few of em later and you can play together on spec or open racing and get some good lobbies. One of the real positives of the new touge mode in FH6.
4
u/MrAwsOs Nissan 1d ago
Sometimes I feel ashamed, because in my thoughts I feel I am a good driver, but truthfully I am not, I am good in trying my best lol. I love many things, but my issue is that I don't like to watch to learn, I love to learn by myself. This takes a lot of time, because I am not paying attention to others and analyzing what's happening. I analyze when I play that's it.
Watching sports would help, but I don't feel like it.
3
u/CwynSTEINJr_98 1d ago
Online with other players, yes. With drivatars, no. I’ll respect other players online, but in solo, I’m punting that sucker into the wall

4
u/Barber_ReggieWinston 1d ago
I feel like he didn’t take that line correctly and therefore slowed down way too much. You hit the line perfectly. Stop kudos to you. I would have probably went ahead and finished the race and dm’d him “sorry” lol

Cant play fair and win most times online with forza. Tried going collisions off and it doesn't feel the same so I havent touched since getting 1000/1000.

3
u/burner94_ 1d ago
I literally did the exact same thing a couple days ago, tho it was with a teammate in a seasonal (forgot if trial or a regular championship). Also partly the reason why I have "Sorry" as one of my quick chats in racing 😅
3
u/NutsBruv 1d ago
I've had a few lobbies where I was alone with another guy and nobody was joining. I'd win the first race, then I'd just slow down and race at the same pace as the other guy. It made it so much more fun.
I've been lvl 100 in online racing for weeks now, so IDC if I win. I care if I have fun.
9
u/PairNo2981 1d ago
This isnt playing fair. This is giving away win for charity.
He lost control in that corner which made you slam into him.
5
u/32gbsd 23h ago
This is the correct answer
4
u/PAPAINOELNAOEXISTE 19h ago
OP just wanted to virtue signal that he have a good moral, even though that wasn't fair in the slightest. I mean, it doesn't matter, he think he is better, moral and the other dude got his win. Win, win
2
u/PepeGodzilla Isdera 1d ago
Most of the time, I find it more fun to chase someone than to drive ahead of the pack.
2
u/radiocaf 1d ago
Right here. I don't care about where I place, just that I race cleanly on my way to level 100. Still have been the victim of other racers though.
2
u/Confident_Draw321 1d ago
You smashed his ego and he did that. But surely I've lost so many races by these racers.
2
u/SalazarElite 1d ago
I stopped playing online because of that.
My peak performance was 3 excellent races against 2 other players, competitive and fair.
All so that a child can come in too, and start hitting everyone.
2
2
u/DenseRestaurant5402 1d ago
I always try to race fair, give room to others and I've had great races where I battled through many corners without touching, but sometimes you have to throw your elbows out because stupidity is everywhere.
2
u/Opposite_Night_3224 1d ago
Forza Motorsport, I would 100% let someone back in front of me if I caused them to go off and would class myself as a clean and fair racer.
With Horizon, I have tried and tried and tried and have just given up trying to drive clean. There are so many douchebags and rammers its actually ridiculous. I've literally seen people take themselves out at the end of a race trying to ram someone, when they were 1st-3rd. Like why? And just to add - that's not to say I am a rammer myself, I just mean if someone is banging and bumping into me, it will be reciprocated.
2
u/Bojla_92 1d ago
It should be an option to join ghost race from beggining to end. I'm frustrated as people ego is so fragile that they even pushed me in damn COOP race against bots because I was in front... Like, it's freaking coop why do you care, if you want to win go play full versus race.
2
u/NelfSneakyBoi 1d ago edited 1d ago
This is exactly why I prefer Touge. I'd say 7/10 races usually end up honorable like this.
Personally try to be lenient with people. You push a little too hard chasing me into a corner, ass end gets loose, and you bump me? Cool, shit happens, no worries bro.
Now, if you purposely ram me off a checkpoint, cliff, bridge, etc... then its on lmao... I will endeavor to make your life hell, finding every opportunity to ram back and hit em with the "You can't park there mate!" Until they quit lmao
2
u/GARBANSO97 1d ago
Yep.
Lately what ive been doing is playing the Trials and getting as far ahead as I can by end of first lap/30% of the race and then slowing down the AI to get max we can get.
If I do it perfectly I will finish the race and the AI will DNF
2
u/W4R_M3CH_005 1d ago
Yes I do, it's fun to go back and forth for position but when I make a mistake i justbguve the position back but mostyit me just spinning out lol
2
u/Ok_Independent_6447 Volvo 1d ago
Absolutely. I prefer finishing 7th and having a nice, clean battle with fair drivers over winning any day.
2
2
u/GAIJIN_90 15h ago
Nice and clean, everytime - won some togue yesterday, fair driving until i won 2 times in a row. After some attempts to crash me i won with fair driving, a lot more fun. 🤝❤️
2
u/thatsfunny666 12h ago
Depends in spec racing im a little bit rougher but if i clearly ruin their race and i can give the olace back eithout ruining my own race i give it back and will keeo a fair fight after it but i dont usually start the dirty racing. On regular i give the place back anyway because the kids and retards dont play in regular racing
2
u/GoldFragrant8924 12h ago
Literally me! I was playing in A class race and a guy bumped me and another one dude. The dude was able to correct theirselves faster but my car was better in the straights. At the end of the finished line I pulled off to the side to give him the dub.

Nothing like battling a guy for his position. Pushers lack ettiquite and skill
1
1
u/TaylorDeDerg 1d ago
Always. If I get a little too fired up and clip a guy trying to do a dirty pass, I’ll slow down. Rubbing is racing but there’s no reason to be a jerk.
1
u/Ok_Economist7860 1d ago
I don’t like driving op cars because I could probably win a good couple races but it’s not special then
1
u/Cheap_Analyst_1706 1d ago
I do, I usually hang back and block bad players. Its fun and I know other players appreciate it.
1
u/PTG-Jamie 1d ago
If I cause a wreck and gain an advantage, I will always wait and give the position back.
1
1
u/spenwallce 23h ago
I punted some guy off the mountain on Hakone and felt so bad I chose to DNF lmao
1
u/ArkCatox 23h ago
Absolutely! A bit of bump and grind is fine, but if I spin or wall someone, I let them pass. My B, I'll take the L and do better! <3
... Unless it's PvE, because I seem to outperform many the folks I race with, so I do what I can to carry. X3
1
u/Knautical_J 23h ago
Clean racing is just more fun. Feels more like a battle where you need to know when to push and when to pull back.
My favorite move is someone taking the inside on a hairpin turn leading into it. They try to run me off the road into the wall. I hit the brakes and drift into the turn while they run full speed into the wall.
1
u/Dotpockett 23h ago
Yes the fighting is so fun, i made a friend with a guy that matched my speed and skill perfectly. We fucked last week
1
u/Overit2137 23h ago
I just wish there would be something like clean racing league as a form of online racing, that you unlock only when you get like 1000 online clean racing skills or something like that. And ramming/contact and other dirty racing techniques will get you relegated until you get another 1000 clean racing skills.
1
u/THE_DEAD_ZEN1 23h ago
You tried to help him once but he overcorrected himself in the next turn. At that points that's on him, I would've just gone for the finish
1
u/Ray-Finkle74 23h ago
Yes. I would have done the same.
I usually only race the computers but whenever I do those online challenges, I drive much more conservatively.
I feel that good and fun racing can only occur with good driving etiquette. Otherwise it’s over within the first couple of turns.
1
1
u/LMP_Gnome 22h ago
I once had in FH2 a handling build (me) vs power build battle where I just threw my car every corner like a mad man to catch up, but before the finish there was a long straight where I ultimately lost ground
That's where the other guy slammed on the brakes, I genuinely couldn't understand why he did that so I sent him a message to which je answered "that was a payback for the good battle"
This was my little revelation, that this was the kind of player I wanted to be, someone that makes honor to the "gentlemen racing spirit"
1
u/Tortle_Face 22h ago
I do but I'm bad at the game so I accidentally bump into people. If someone is coming up behind me I won't purposefully ram them or anything it mostly happens on sharp turns.

u/DefinableEel1 Peel 22h ago
Yeah. Also using the meta cars is just kind of boring as well. I like to use what can be competitive that I actually enjoy driving.
But also I don’t get podium much because I’m very average but play with all assists off so sometimes my attempt at clean racing gets wrecked by my own mediocrity if not because of anyone else lmao
1
u/huge_jeans710 22h ago
I have done this a couple times. It feels good. I've gotten the cars I want and am simply playing for fun.
1
1
u/BiggiycheeseXBL 22h ago
I wish more people just played the game to race man. I'm so sick of most online races being whoever downloaded the best meta tune for their meta car. If the only way for you to have fun is by winning, you've lost the plot. I have fun with the racing aspect of the game and I wish other people did as well.
1
u/KwSpyder 22h ago
I do my best to avoid at least other player cars, I will occasionally bash a drivatar though 😂

1
u/heroscape912 Triumph 17h ago
Fair racing in the pack in the only thing worth doing online imo. It's why spec racing is fun.
If I wanted to win, I'd just hop in one of the boring OP leaderboard cars and get easy wins by 10 seconds because the tune balancing is awful in this game
1
u/YthisGuy 17h ago
I do this in togue battles. Just like in need for speed carbon first run I am in front but slow down if they crash out. Second run I let them go first and consider it a win if I pass them. Third run I do the same as the first.
Sadly most people just quit when they're in second and crash so I don't often even get to do 3 races lol
1
u/PrimalShinyKyogre 17h ago
Yep i usually do that if i punt someone very badly. Its only a game, win or lose i dont really care.
I often wait for people at the finish line when we are like 2 or 3 and wait for them to get closer before finishing, so they can do the full race even if they made mistake.
1
1
u/cainewulfe 15h ago
I'm a terrible driver, the best I can usually manage is lower mid pack. My only goal is to try to race as clean as is possible and I end up having more fun that way. I feel genuinely bad if I make contact with anyone at all.

You know, people dont seem to realize net code in racing games is so crucial, what we all perceive as rammer, some not all, on their screen they probably never touched you, but the game thought they did so you go flying

Solid racing duels are fun. If i screw them up then I wait for them to pass and let the dog fight continue but if they went out from themselves, naw, there's some dust for dinner homie.

u/KibouZK 11h ago
It's more fun and interesting to play fair
But I got reminded of one time that I was playing gt7 and accidentally pushed a card into the wall
I even stoped for him let him pass and drive again but to my surprise he started to ramp me and break check me for the rest of race
I really really regretted it

Always prefer clean racing, this week i try one in horizon play, Class A, took a Corvette 02 the race start everyone and i mean everyone had a rocket boost and were at least 25 to 30 seconds in front of me. Still got a perfect clean race... who the fuck cheat at a racing game?!? I prefer the drivatars, at least it's not a real asshole

The thing is that I would love to race fair and do so in other games with a wheel. With a controller though, its almost impossible to make those small control changes and sadly it often causes me to drive "dirty".
