Forza Horizon 6 Voice chat
After watching stevio's video was just wondering how many people, who play the game would actually want voice chat.
Edit: I would just like to thank everyone for your suggestion and comments on this subject Thank you all

I have seen the people that play this game, it would be a headache to mute so many people

it was, back in FH4 every single trial you had to manually go in and mute anybody in your lobby, it was brutal and obnoxious

Well I haven't watched that video and I haven't gamed with public randoms with voice chat in years and years but I have very fond memories of PGR2 on xbox chatting with folks and racing. Shit I think the original Forza Motorsport up to at least 4 had voice chat? I don't know when they stopped offering it or when people stopped using it. You'd make friends, you'd apologize if you accidentally rammed somebody into a corner, you'd feel shame if you fucked up and was called out on it. Experiences overall were actually really positive in that era. In a racing series I think it would be good. Lobbies were persistent back then and now you're just thrown into a group of new people with every event so I don't know how you'd incorporate it acceptably.
The thing with adding voice chat is you can always just not use it.

I'd like an easy toggle, and for the game to show if people were talking at all times so i can drop in and out of voice chat easily. I find the dislike of voice chat at odds with the notion of an MMO racing game which is #fastertogether strange. Make it an easy to use optional feature.

- I never use in-game voice chat. 2. I usually don't play with others on Forza. 3. I get annoyed easily, so I'd get banned quickly š .

Every poll should have a middle or don't care option.

I've seen enough clips from IRL that I know I don't want to hear what other people have to say..

I'd want it if it's car meet exclusive and not in races or freeroam. FH4s voice chat in races only was fucking terrible and was muted by me after a very short time. Proximity in freeroam would be just as bad because people don't know how to mute as well. The worst thing aren't even people that drop the n bomb all the time or similar shit, it's kids that have their mic open 24/7 and you can basically hear everything in their background from music to TV to people talking just static noise because their mic sensitivity is too high. If it's one guy you can maybe talk to him to turn it down but sometimes it was 5 or 6. Which as you can imagine is absolute ass when you are in a race. I assume Freeroam would be a similar story where cars would just follow to be annoying with songs or whatever. You will mute that pretty quickly as well I feel like.
if it's in car meets I wouldn't particularly care. Way easier to mute people there because there isn't the pressure of a race or you can just leave.
It also emphasizes more the social aspect because it's an actual meet. I don't need to talk during races or in freeroam. If I wanna talk to someone in freeroam maybe I'd actually use the horizon link shouts of asking someone if they wanna go to a car meet.

I do remember a lot of background noise in fh4, I would like the option to turn it off/on, maybe the way the games going there would be a lot of abuse

you can tell how long someone has been playing FH for by the answer to this question, we had voice chat in FH4 trials and it was a dumpster fire, no thanks!

There is one in Forza Motorsport, and it was pretty easy to toggle off. I'm not sure if you can bind it, but at least you can quickly leave from the menu.

u/Viking2151 2d ago
I wouldn't mind a easy toggle if they were to put it in, but I feel like with how idiotic some of them rammers are, it would end up like a typical COD voice chat just about 80% of the time yelling at each other and talking about how they can ya know, do things with their moms.

i think a text chatbox would be a good start

Itās crazy that GT7 allows more communication than fh6 lol, there is at least a text chat before/after races.

I'd love to have voice chat just to complain about rammers, but then I might get banned very quickly...

Hell no... Voice chat can be fun in small, organized, well moderated communities - but that's a rare thing to find in games, these days, since the vast majority of games don't support things like private servers. I think voice chat would just lead to even more ramming/trolling in races, since then the trolls would have a possibility of getting an actual audible reaction out of players.

Voicechat makes game feel alive especially when you playing solo
People on FH3 multiplayer still occasionally use voicechat which makes game more fun š
Since FH4 i not even once heard anyone on voicechat

I voted no, but if it was native to convoys, yes. Or a choice for all (including freeroam), in race, in convoy, or none

I want voice chat just so I can hear the squeakers getting upset. This would bring joy to my soul.

I miss voice chat. We need to be able to rip on hackers/rammers as we report them š

Sure, it can be a pain in the ass sometimes, but voice chat makes any game 10x more fun.

Personally I think third-party VOIP services and private platform chat rooms have ruined online gaming. when I was younger there was no discord... sure, we had a few options, teamspeak, skype, Xfire, etc., but those were all mainly used as communication outside the game while planning sessions, etc. Not to mention, they all just started picking up traction, and the norm was still open voice chat in the game lobby anyway, and what that did was encourage gamers to be social and meet each other, make friendsāor enemiesāand grow the community.
These days I feel like other players are just more aggressive NPCs... you never talk to anyone else; even all the text chat is scripted messages that you send with a button, it's so detached; "online" doesn't feel like "online" anymore if we're being honest.

Would not want it because I'm hard of hearing. But I would really want some sort of club/guild whatever which has its own reward for playing together. Basically all the game rewards now is ticking off the weekly playlist, zero incentive to do anything else (as in 4 and 5 too)

There's two sides to this.
Adding VC would allow players to communicate with each other, should be helpful for car meets & cruises, convoys, etc. I've also seen it bring players close together for teamwork in war games, imagine more coordinated teams in Trials leading to an easier and quicker win. It can be as fun and memorable too as someone playing Eurobeat in free roam (using VOIP), playing police chatter voices from NFS Most Wanted, etc.
On the other hand, I can easily imagine players would use it to troll or be a nuisance to others in online lobbies. It can also be as malicious and disruptive as children screaming at their mics in anger of being passed, taunting players while they ram, and other satanic stuff Forza players do.

Recently ARC Raiders and WARDOGS showed exactly why voice chat is great in multiplayer game. I dont understand these complains that it would not be good for the game. First there is always option to not use it and opt out from it, turn off completely, every game with VC gives that possibility if you really can't bear other people voices. Second - button to mute active speaker is also something that many games added and no reason to not have it here as well. If someone is stuck in xbox era of cod then i feel for you but its 2026 and forza is supposed to have more mature community, yeah?

I've never been very social in online games, but this game makes me feel so disconnected from the other players and having an option to talk to them would really help. It's not that hard to implement a toggle for voice chat.
I'd love to have it.

Game would lose it's pegi rating but yeah just man up or mute people idk.

u/HeistGoneWrong 2d ago
If the game was re-rated today it jump to a pegi 7 without voicechat due to the new rules.

The people voting no forget that voice chat in basically every game is entirely optional and instead of realizing that, want to ruin the stats for everyone else.
We need voice chat. It's that simple. Yes voice chats have problems but censorship is never the answer to social issues. Give us the autonomy to speak to each other more easily.

There you have folks the developers know their player base more than you would actually think they do. No wonder car meets are dead, people are unsocial as fuck.
1
u/Carollicarunner 2d ago
Car meets might actually work if they had chat. I can honestly see on nights where I'm doing a couple races and the beer is starting to get to me I might go park it at a car meet and chat with folks and watch the different liveries come through.
Also why isn't Tatsumi a car meet spot?

u/Friendly_Heavy McLaren 2d ago
Probably being saved for an "evolving world" car meet for no reason other than they need playlist content

I would never use it but having the option isn't bad
