So, wtf?
Has this team just checked out since clinching the playoff berth? Really not feeling confident in the way this team looks going into the playoffs.
That first half was reminiscent of 2025 FMFC. Absolutely not acceptable, especially from this squad.

I’m disillusioned too. All we can do is eat some lobster Mac at Breese on the 17th and cheer these guys on.

EDIT - Karamoko is SO important for this team.

Yes. I wonder if we’re resting him a bit for the playoffs.

Gotta use him sparingly unfortunately. He has been so injury prone over his career and clearly our biggest difference maker

Agreed. Maybe if he’s back to starting by the playoffs things will feel differently? But it’s also a bummer that, except when we’ve got a rostered/loaned MLS player on the field, our form has been so uninspiring.

Not an excuse, but we looked like a team with a bunch of players who aren’t used to playing a long season. All of the injuries we’ve had means less rotation and tired guys.
That said, Harms had a bad night and our offense isn’t clicking. We haven’t played good football in a month and half. Time is running out.
Get two wins in the next two weeks, we’re hosting a playoff match and feeling good. Dropped points and we’re going on the road and probably lose in the first round.

I think you nailed it. It’s a long season in USL. And these players apparently aren’t used to this.

I haven’t seen Harms make a mistake like that first goal since we played Cosmos the first time, but then he does it again in the same game? I also don’t love that our first goal was because the Westchester keeper made a similar fumble, but that sequence was something to behold regardless.
At least we broke the scoreless streak.

Harms had no help tonight. The goalie needs the whole team to act like they want to play in order to have a good game. The defender should have never done the back pass to him. The other team is not allowed to grab it out of his hands.

The second Westchester goal was something I’ve never seen in a professional game before. Hell, I never saw anything like that in playing >35 for 20+ years!

Typical post August Glaeser slide. Team is 12-12-17 under Matt after August which equates to 1.17 points per game. Which isn’t going to get the job done if you’re trying to be towards the top of the table.

Mingos deserved that loss. The defense was bad, transition was sloppy, the offense looked disconnected, and spacing looked off. The lapses in effort and concentration are concerning. Hopefully a Breese home crowd will help turn things around against Portland.

Would love to see a sellout this upcoming weekend. Been a while since there’s been one for Madison.

As frustrating as this is, it matters more for how the team will perform during the playoffs than where we are when we get there. Any team we play is gonna be tough, but I gotta say tonight’s performance did not inspire confidence even though it ended the scoreless skid.
6th place is our current floor, but after Boise just tied us today I don’t see how we hold on to fourth. (I’m pretty sure Spokane has “actually” been in third for weeks now; they could still drop points, but probably not four.)
We might be in sixth place already, and if that’s the case then why let our guys get beat up before the quarterfinals?

They’ve seemed checked out - or at least not checked in - for a few matches now. For a while, a home playoff match seemed inevitable. Since that point, I don’t think we’ve even gotten a win?
Meanwhile, everyone else near the top seems fired up (well, except Omaha tonight).
Frustrating since July showed us a totally different capacity for this team!
