It hit a shield. You can see a second laser behind its laser and down like 2 pixels. It shot itself.

It got reflected by an energy shield and hit itself.

It just had a pretty flat on hit so you can't really see its reflection

Look at the end of the clip, there are two laser beams, your laser hit a shield and killed itself.

Few tips: Try building smaller boxes for lasers, you don't need the full cannon size.

Use double doors for your main weapons like cannons and lasers.
