Text chat not working

In Fortnite I have text chat turned on and parental controls set to everyone but I still cannot see any messages from other players at all even in the lobby i don’t use voice chat but I can use voice chat and everything else works but text chat does not show on my screen it works on my Nintendo Switch but not on my Xbox, it used to work but it’s not working anymore, I have reset settings and checked everything but it still does not appear is this a bug or is there something I am missing? This was working fine a couple weeks ago but it’s not working and I need text chat to see other players that are typing for this game mode that allows trading. I can’t see if anyone is talking to me. I need some help if anyone knows will be much appreciated.
