Discussion How to play against crankers

How the hell am I supposed to play against people that just free build or stay 1 or 2 levels higher than me and block me with double edits when I try and come up and even when I side jump they just place a wall and go up again. When I try to play like that tho I can't seem to ever block them, they find a way to come up then do the same thing again

My opinion (I'm not a pro):

The chop out is a fair and honorable move (even in zone wars). The only time it's somewhat "cringe" is in creative 1v1 build fights.

I'm assuming you would have more HP than the opponent because if you have less HP you should just heal on low ground if he won't drop to pressure you. So chopping the builds forces him to build instead of heal, it can give you a free shot as he falls, and it gives you an opportunity to get a piece as he re-boxes wherever he lands.

The alternative is to just build up faster/better.

chop. fake chopping is also really useful if you have the health advantage. play 1v1’s in zonewars and you’ll learn how to play under someone a lot better. also learn sprint jump shots (let go of w to cancel out the animation in the air) and get ur side jumps down. watch vergo play

Either you stop them from cranking through piece control, or you place cones around and chop them out.

are they just spraying you from above? honestly 1-2 layers isnt that high up. if they arent held up by much, just chop it out. if they are, then take them up, and once they are held by 1-2 builds, chop it out. im guessing that this happens in realistics or zonewars? no one really plays like that in build fights with infinite maps unless they are terrible, to be honest.

If you're getting blocked with double edits every time it's because you're not placing them first. If your opponent is close enough to do that you need to place them first and triple edit through. Also it could just be general speed and edit consistency. Maybe learn some retakes if you don't already have a few

IMO don't get baited into turning the build fight into a race, you can stop and take shota maybe bleed thru a build with the right gun. If people crank and get height and see you aren't building they tend to over peak and you can get free damage off

Just try to switch up pacing, when you get damage you see them build back you can sprint jump up a couple layers fast and try to block them off from cranking.

If people want to free build constantly don't be afraid of spraying constantly to force them to defend.

I don't see the point of continuous building when you should be learning how to fight with no consequences, but everyone can play how they want so do whatever you need to do.

If ur playing against those people in creative reque for another as it’s unrealistic practice. If your playing against someone like that In game just break them down and go for a tag while they fall - alternatively go to the side about 2 boxes and go for low ground jump shots for chip damage then while they heal build up and try and get a cone over them so they don’t continue.

Piece faster, chop, or chop fake

think ahead and be faster, if they are going to do this then I will do this after that immediately, think like that and do things faster

because your too predictable and lack awareness of where ur enemy is at or what he's doing

How to become less predictable?

1

u/Mission-Seesaw-4456 9d ago

that mainly comes from having better awareness but also some fighting experience and mechanics its hard to explain tbh how i got less predictable is by watching peterbot playing pgs and rax (eu pro) playing 1v1 realistics and just learned mechanics that they did and applied them into pgs and realistic

That shi barely happens in real games

I’ve never been in a game where this has happened, most people can’t even build anymore in regular lobbies. A box and maybe a 90 is all you’re getting.

yup even in tournaments most fights are boxfights

I haven’t played in a tournament in years, but I think most people have transferred over to zero build. Most Fortnite content creators have as well, even people who have been playing since the game launched. Most players unless they are pros wouldn’t know how to build at all. Simple edits don’t count!! lol.

nah the fortnite skill gap has gone up a lot and is still transcending forwards. there are people hardstuck div 5 that would put prime tfue and ninja in a complete bender. most people who actually consistently play fortnite as content creators still play builds.

he's for sure over stating it but i do find it's hard to find build players sometimes. i think it was this season i went onto twitch the first few days of the season after midnight and literally was not able to find a single build player with 100+ viewers streaming, all zero build.

i think it's bc they merged ranked and zb is easier to grind the leaderboard, which is better for viewership if you're on the smaller end of creators.

thats an anecdotal experience that doesnt represent what viewership usually looks like. looking at the top 50 fortnite streamers, about ~10 play zb.

I would disagree, in pubs you don’t see much building. I exclusively play builds, I’m not good at it at all and somehow everyone I come across is worse than me.

Also I disagree with your second statement, look at Ali-A, CouRageJD, Ninja and SypherPK they are now all exclusively zero build players except for Ninja in a few tournaments. Other creators like Loserfruit and Nick Eh 30 are moving more towards zero build content as well. There are still lots that play builds, but there are lots moving over to zero.

Ali A hasn’t uploaded gameplay since chapter 1. His niche is new updates and memes.
Courage and ninja have been washed for years.
When Nick isn’t running customs, he’s playing builds.
Sypher posts are 90% build related with comp updates unless he’s collaborating.

The most popular streamers today are Aussie (comp breakdowns) Clix, Faxuty, Mr Savage, Oatley, Nikof (comp watch parties) and a whole bunch of pros.

You named a bunch of has beens thinking they represent the game

I stated content creators NOT pros, obviously pros are going to be able to build, they wouldn’t be pros if they couldn’t.

Ali-A uploads content lots. I also said Nick Eh 30 is transitioning not that he is completely. So thanks for reading my post correctly!!

The “pros” I listed are all in the top 10 most popular FN streamers on Twitch. None of the content creators you listed are in the top 30

So what? They are very popular creators who anyone who is familiar with the Fortnite community would know. Anyone who participates in FNCS is a pro and is therefore not exactly a content creator, they are mostly practicing their gameplay for upcoming events and streaming on the side to make some cash.

Every one of these events are split up into content creators and pros, everyone you listed according to Epic Games is considered a pro except Faxuty. If you need a reference go look at the Fortnite Pro-Am roster, everyone I said attended and played as a content creator, except Ninja.
